Why Would Saints Sign Kyle Walker - Peters From Spurs ?

Kyle Walker Peters is being linked heavily with Saints, but why would Saints be interested in the Spurs right back ?

Although it is possible that Cedric could leave St Mary's in the final day of the transfer window, the suggestion that Kyle Walker - Peters might be coming in on loan seems to be a strange rumour.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be an admirer or Walker - Peters and indeed it was only 8 months ago that the player signed a new five year deal at Spurs, however his progress at the club has been slow and at 22 years old he has only made 9 Premier League appearances and a grand total of 19 in all competitions.

There is of course strong competition for the right back spot at White Hart Lane and it is understandable why Spurs would want him to go out on loan for a season to get some experience and certainly he is good enough for that to be at a Premier League club, but why would Spurs want him to go to Saints ?

We of course have Yan Valery in that spot another highly rated youngster and one who has performed well in pre season, would Walker - Peters, step immediately into his spot if he arrived ?

The answer is no and that being the case why would Pochettino want to loan his player to a club where he will be a back up, he might as well keep him at Spurs if that is the case.

So it seems that the reason he is being linked is lazy journalism, in the quest for a good rumour or perhaps at the request of the players agent, a hack has put together a promising youngster with the club who have the best reputation for developing youngsters and giving them a chance.

But they have taken no account of the situation at St Mary's in his position, yes if Saints do move Cedric on in the next 24 hours or so we will have a gap to fill as back up to Valery, yes it would be great for it to be a player of Walker - Peters quality, but overall the deal doesn't fit Spurs needs or Saints for that matter.

Leeds had more of the possession and created the better chances against Bristol City, so it feels a little frustrating that we didn’t take all three points.
