Saints Price Targett To Stay
According to the London based media Saints have named their price to Fulham for Matt Targett and it seems to aim to put them off.
According to the Evening Standard in London Saints have named their price to Fulham for Matt Targett, it seems that at least £15 million will be needed to prise him away from St Mary's.
in normal circumstances Targett could perhaps expect to be a permanent fixture already in the Saints team, but we seem to have a knack of either producing or buying quality left backs and at the moment Targett has his way blocked by perhaps the best English left back in the Premier League in Ryan Bertrand.
Ideally we would perhaps keep Bertrand as first choice for another year and then move him on for Targett to take over, but Targett will turn 23 in just over a month and knows he needs to be playing regularly at the highest level now.
Mark Hughes naturally wants to keep & play his best players and that means Bertrand, Saints though are in no hurry to sell and won't do so unless they get top dollar, the£15 million price tag seems set to put Fulham off, but if they are willing to pay that sort of money then Saints will see it as good business in the short term, but perhaps not in the long.
