Brendan Rodgers To Saints ! Rumours In Scotland

The Scottish media are reporting that Saints are likely to try and tempt Brendan Rodgers from Celtic to save the club from relegation.

Ironically Brendan Rodgers was the man responsible for setting Saints off on the crazy ride of the last four years, as Liverpool boss he was central in luring several Saints players to Anfield and became a figure of hate to Saints supporters.

Now though he could be returning to St Mary's, not to sign a player, but to become the manager of the club.

The Scottish Sun is reporting that "Les Reed, who advises Chinese owner Gao Jisheng, is a big admirer of Rodgers. "

They continue to say

"Rodgers signed a four-year deal at Celtic in April, 2017, worth close to £2.5 million a year.

That salary and likely seven-figure compensation figure would not deter Saints, who face a huge fight to maintain their top flight status."

Certainly Rodgers has experience in the Premier League and varying success, with good seasons interspersed by indifferent ones, at Celtic he has enjoyed success, but then again virtually anyone would win the title every season up in Scotland given the lack of any real opposition to Celtic following Rangers problems of the last few years.

Certainly Rodgers would be more attractive to Saints fans than Mark Hughes, but there is still that simmering annimosity from the summer of 2014.
