Van Dijk Training Video Removed ! Could He Make A Playing Return Tonight !

Saints earlier posted a video on one of their social media channels that appeared to show Virgil Van Dijk training with the Saints U23 squad, but it was swiftly taken down.

Virgil Dijk is said to have taken his first steps back to getting match fit by training with the Saints U23 squad and a video on the Club's facebook page appeared to show him training, however almost as quickly as it had gone up, it was removed.

This has prompted speculation that he could play for Saints U23 side who travel to Telford this evening to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This site suggested a fortnight ago that Van Dijk could be playing for the U23's last Monday evening at St Mary's, but this did not happen in the end, a week on and the Dutch defender could be a surprise participant in the game at the Bucks Head Stadium.

As you would expect Liverpool's fan social media is already putting 2 + 2 together and making 60 million with the news that Saints are about to sign a central defender and claim that it could mean Liverpool could get Van Dijk after all, but Saints show no sign of weakening.

Liverpool have trodden even dodgier ground over the weekend with Steven Gerrard claiming that the Anfield club need to sign Van Dijk, this would have annoyed Saints in that Gerrard is a club employee of Liverpool and this could well be construed as unsettling the player.

Other reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp will not persue another target should he fail to get Van Dijk, which is strange in that you either have a £60 million sized hole in your defence or you don't.

In the meanwhile Saints fans await the next episode of this sorry story with baited breath, it is understandable why Saints may have taken down the video, they would want a low key return to training for Van Dijk, but whether it is a softening of the his position by the player who is realising that Saints will stand firm and doesn't want to be left in the cold for six months, or whether it is just Saints insisting he fulfill his contractual obligations is yet to be seen,
