Leeds United: Whites linked to German forward

Leeds United hold a reputed interest in Hamburger SV's 25 year-old forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga - according to an article in today's Yorkshire Evening Post.

Lasogga, an abrasive, imposing target-man, has been contracted to the Bundesliga club since 2014, following a prolific loan spell that yielded 13 goals from 20 appearances. He sustained an injury in 2016 that sidelined him for much of last season and has since been deemed surplus to requirements at the Volksparkstadion.

The player has previously been touted as a potential star of the future for both club and country, but manager Markus Gisdol sees this transfer window as being an opportune time to offload the forward after a 2016-17 season that saw Lasogga net just twice in 22 appearances across various competitions.

No secret has been made of Leeds' desire to strengthen further their attacking options - the Whites were heavily reliant upon the goals of Chris Wood last season - and perceive Lasogga to be a player who is compatible with the squad at Elland Road.

Lasogga pockets a - contextually - gargantuan weekly wage, but such is their desire to sell him Hamburg are willing to make a contribution so as for a move to arise.

At present, no other club is said to be intent on rivalling Leeds for the player's signature and a move could well eventuate within the next week.

Leeds crush Norwich to cruise through to play-off final
With our recent form being what it was, I was expecting a nervy encounter, with Leeds struggling to get through the Norwich City defence, but how wrong I was! Suddenly we recovered the swagger we have shown for much of the season, and not a moment too soon.
