Saints Linked With Jack Wilshere

Saints are one of a number of clubs being linked with a summer bid for Jack Wilshere in the summer.

Jack Wilshere seems to be enjoying life down on the South Coast, after barely playing last season for his parent club Arsenal and his chances of a regular game for the Gunners looking slim, he opted to join the Cherries and so far that has looked a good decision as he has started 7 of the 8 games he has played so far.

That has lead to speculation that he may leave the Emirates next summer on a permanent deal and Bournemouth will not be pleased to hear that they will have competition for his signature.

The Cherries are still the bookies favourite to land him permanently, but West Ham are 9/2 followed by Saints at 8/1 and then Everton and Crystal Palace on 10/1.

Wilshere is on loan at Bournemouth till the end of the season when he will return to Arsenal with only a year left on his contract.

This will be a key time for him, he is back playing regularly for Eddie Howe's side and his career is once more in the ascendancy, that could be good news for Bournemouth short term but not good in the long term as if they try to make the loan permanent next summer and Wilshere has had a successful season there will be clubs with a lot more to offer him financially than the Cherries can afford.

The key question next summer will be if Wilshere appreciates what Bournemouth have done for him and signs or whether it has merely been a stepping stone back to the top for him.

It would be nice to see that there is some loyalty in football, but that is a word more confined to the pages of newspapers these days rather than actually being applied by professional footballers.

Leeds get back on track against woeful Cardiff
After last week’s defeat, Daniel Farke must have been thankful that the fixture list gave us the division’s bottom team as our next opponents. But although we got the win we needed, it was against a desperately poor Cardiff City who had to play with ten men for over an hour, and somehow it felt strangely unconvincing.
Cardiff Awaydaze
This season’s visit to Cardiff City is on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off, and you’ll find their current stadium to the west of the city centre, only a quarter of a mile from their former home at Ninian Park.

Sol Bamba passed away on Saturday at the tragically early age of 39. The tribute on the club’s official website was one of many, as the football world paid it’s respects to a defender who was highly regarded by everyone in the game who came into contact with him.
