Pellegrini Is Not Saints Choice Say The Daily Echo

The Daily Echo are reporting that Manuel Pellegrini is not going to be appointed manager of Southampton Football Club.

The Daily Echo have clearly been briefed by Saints all through the recent situation that has started with Ronald Koeman leaving St Mary's and will end in the next week or so with a new man at the helm.

But that new man will not be Pellegrini say the Echo, they understand that after careful consideration and due dilligence that Saints have decided against bringing in Pellegrini.

Perhaps better news is that the paper also understands that Jurgen Klinsmann is not nor has ever been in the frame.

One man who is is Claude Puel who has again seen his stock rise in the latest betting odds.

The Echo is stating that for this appointment Saints are doing more than just base it on the candidates track record and experience but looking into other factors as well in what will be a very thouroughly researched appointment when it does happen.

The club are still working to a timetable of an appointment before pre season training starts on July 4th which suggests they have identified the man they want, but something at the moment is stopping them making that appointment.

Leeds get back on track against woeful Cardiff
After last week’s defeat, Daniel Farke must have been thankful that the fixture list gave us the division’s bottom team as our next opponents. But although we got the win we needed, it was against a desperately poor Cardiff City who had to play with ten men for over an hour, and somehow it felt strangely unconvincing.

Patient Leeds overcome Hull with strong second half performance
At half-time this game was well and truly in the balance, and Hull City had enjoyed some moments in the first half. But once Leeds had opened the scoring in the second they had no response, and it was comfortable for Leeds in the end.
