Shelvey Suspended For Liverpool Return
Jonjo Shelvey will not have the chance to right the wrongs of his last visit to Liverpool thanks to his needless booking towards the end of today's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the Liberty.
Shelvey saw yellow in an incident where Bournemouth broke and Gylfi Sigurdsson had already taken a booking for the team with the Swans under some pressure as the visitors went in search of the winner.
Shelvey's booking was his 5th of the season and means that he will have to sit out the game at Liverpool next Sunday as the Swans go in search of a first Premier League win at Anfield.
It was at Liverpool last season that Shelvey's Swansea career looked to be over after some stinging criticism from Garry Monk and an unnecessary incident which earned him a ban at the start of the year.
Shelvey finished last season and started this season in sparkling form which has earned him a place back in the England squad but - much like the whole team - his league form has dipped in the past few months with today's goal being the first of the season for the midfielder.
On the plus side, Lucas also picked up a 5th yellow card of the season for Liverpool in their 4-1 win at Manchester City and will also miss the game
