No Go Fernando!

It looks likely Leeds will concede defeat in their ambitious attempt to sign Fernando Forestieri from Watford.

Leeds announced at the weekend that they'd agreed a £3m fee with Watford for the 25-tp year-old former Udinese forward but whilst most players wort their salt would be up the M1 like a shot, Forestieri looks like to have stalled on a move.

On Saturday he looked on at Lotfus Road as QPR thrashed Rotherham 4-2 and the following day made the bench for the Hornets' draw with Southampton.

Tonight's Yorkshire Evening post suggests Leeds will now step up their pursuit of 21-year-old Anthony Limbombe. The Belgian winger currently plays for NEC in a Holland and was withdrawn from their side to play Ajax at the weekend with him not being in the right frame of mind trotted out.

NEC seem prepared to dig in until Leeds meet their valuation with the whites' reportedly having £1.5m turned down earlier this month.

The Forestieri deal seemed plain-sailing at face-value. Massimo Cellino appeared to have negotiated a deal with his compatriots and Watford owners the Pozzo family. Despite his appearance on the bench on Sunday, he is seen as surplus to requirements at Vicarage Road with the Hornets keen to move him on before the September 1st transfer deadline.

It is rumoured that Reading could be a preferred destination with the player rumoured to be keen to remain in the South.

Oh well, if the player can't be swayed by the club then we may as well pursue other options. I suppose it's some consolation that Leeds under Cellino appear again to be willing to outlay a significant cash amount on a player with proven Championship experience after bringing in the likes of Chris Wood and Stuart Dallas during the summer.
