Sheff Utd Betting Preview

A full compliment of three pundits look ahead to the weekend of sporting action, including Rangers’ trip to Bramall Lane.

Welcome back to the betting column. The Don dipped back into the red last week, all be it only by £16.98, but with John Part taking the darts he already has a wedge to add to that when the rest of the lucky 15 is finished. Should the other three bets come in he’ll be up by more than £300k. Yes you read that right.

Anthony dipped back down to £67.39 in the red with a blank weekend last time out, Everton and my beloved Redskins cost him his two accumulators. Brian Power returns this week for the first time since the site move.

The Don
We drew a bit of a blank last week with both my Rangers related bets going down, and the remainder of my allowance wagered on events yet to unfold – hopefully the boys in the Hooped shirts will pay back their debt to us this week.

As usual I’m hoping my pal DAMION STEWART will notch and I’m backing him in both the first and last goal markets. I’m investing £7.50 @ 40/1 with Paddy Power on each eventuality.

I also quite fancy us to win the game, and so I’d suggest a modest £20 on a QPR win at odds of 53/20 with Betsson (whoever they are).

Assuming WATFORD have learnt form the football lesson we gave them over Christmas, they probably represent value at Deepdale. So £10 with Unibet on the Hornets to vanquish Preston at odds of 13/10.

Finally, and I could look like a complete chump here depending on when the betting column is published, but if the Redknapp for Newcastle bandwagon loses a wheel, how about MARTIN JOL @ 33/1? My remaining fiver on him with Ladbrokes.

Two for the weekend:
Stewart to score the first and/or last goal in Sheffield United v QPR clash £7.50 on both at 40/1 Paddy Power
QPR to beat Sheffield Untied 53/20 with Betsson
Watford to beat Preston at £10 at 13/10

For the notebook:
Martin Jol to be the next permanent Newcastle manager £5 at 33/1
Robertson to win the Masters £5 e/w @ 20/1 with Skybet
Star de Mohaison to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup £10 e/w @ 25/1 generally
Second half of Denman double – Cheltenham Gold cup, £250 potential winnings
Lucky 15 bet – remaining, Robertson for World Snooker, Bewley’s Berry in the national, and Scott in the US Masters. John part winning darts already guarantees a profit – all four = more than a third of a million.
Brian Power
Happy New Year to all of you the future is looking bright with our new owners and lets see if we can beat those post Christmas blues with a few winners - and I won't mention those jammy bastards from SW8.

Five for the weekend:
QPR to beat Sheff Utd £10 @ 5/2 Bet 365
£10 First Scorer Dexter Blackstock 8/1 Ladbrokes
£10 Naunton Brook 2.30 Warwick 14/1 William Hill
£10 accum Bristol City 4/7 Huddersfield 10/11 Mk DOns 2/5 Peterborough 4/9 and Man Utd 1/4 at William Hills
£10 double on Sunday Blackburn 7/4 and Portsmouth 11/8

Middlesex Hoop
Four for the weekend:
Patrick Agyemang to score first - 8/1 - £5 (LADBROKES)
Sheffield United 1-2 QPR - 11/1 - £5 (BETFRED)
Aston Villa, Man Utd, Burnley, Watford and Swansea to win their respective matches this weekend would return £382.24 for just a £20 stake. (VCBET)
Lyon, Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Inter Milan, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys to win their respective football and NFL matches this weekend would return £198.66 from a £20 stake. (VCBET)

What to read next:

Burnley Awaydaze
Once again we visit beautiful Burnley, this time with a 8pm kick off on Monday evening, thanks once again to our very good friends at Sky Sports. You’ll find Turf Moor about a mile to the east of Burnley town centre.
Leeds edge past Norwich: A lacklustre game or a tactical masterclass?
It was something of a routine victory over Norwich City last night, with Leeds doing little more than was absolutely necessary, but the three points took us back to the top of the table.
Late Goals Seal the Deal: Leeds Triumph 3-0 Over Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds Kick Off Transfer Window with Loan Moves for Gelhardt and Crew
The current transfer window has been open for two weeks already, but it’s not till today that we’ve heard first pieces of news affecting Leeds United. Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Crew are going on loan to Hull City and Doncaster Rovers respectively, for the rest of the season.
Leeds United Edge Past Harrogate Town with Ramazani goal
We laboured to break down some stubborn resistance from League Two Harrogate Town, but in the end a 59th minute goal from Largie Ramazani was enough to take Leeds through to the fourth round.
Late Drama at Hull: Leeds Held to a Draw After Meslier's Costly Error
Leeds seemed to be cruising to victory after turning the game around in the second half, but this match will be remembered for the error from Meslier that allowed Hull City back into the game, and ultimately cost us another two points on the road.
Hull Awaydaze
This season’s trip to Hull City is on Saturday, with a rare kick off at 3pm. You’ll find the stadium now known as the MKM a mile or so to the west of Hull city centre.
Fatigue or Fortune? Leeds Held to Draw by Resilient Blackburn
It was a disappointing end to the holiday season as Leeds took most of the game to break down a stubborn Blackburn Rovers side, and then allowed our opponents to grab a late equaliser. It won’t be a game that will live long in the memory.
Top of the Table: Leeds finish 2024 at the summit after Stunning Team Goal!
Once again we dominated the possession in an away game, but struggled to make it count. That was before a superb team goal in the 79th minute finally broke through the Derby County defence, and that proved to be enough to ensure that we finish 2024 on top of the Championship table.
Farke Seeks Improvement Despite Comfortable Win in the Fog
Even though we went back to the top of the table Daniel Farke thought we should have won more comfortably, but we were more than good enough to beat a woeful Stoke City. For the third time in 2024 a Leeds win cost an opposing manager his job, after Narcis Pelach was called in to collect his P45 yesterday morning.
