Ash To Stay A Jack?

I just can't help but feel at the moment that Ashkey Williams will still be a Swansea player next season despite the media linking him with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal

Call it optimism, call it realism or call it good old blind faith if you want but there's a gut feel in me that he will be at the heart of our defence next season leading us into Europe and another season in the top flight.

His comments in today's paper are bang on the money in terms of us taking a reality check as to where we are in the division but he also acknowledges that we have let standards slip in recent weeks since securing that third season in the Premier League.

Ash has captained the Swans for much of the season and is also the captain of his country and that form has seen Liverpool and Arsenal take note as to what is happening but Ash will also have half an eye on previous colleagues who have moved and achieved nothing.

Today he told the Wales on Sunday "The main thing for me is finishing my career in the Premier League. Look, every player would love to go play in the Champions League or win the Premier League title, anyone.

"Ask 100 footballers and they’d give you the same answer. But I can’t afford to take my eye off the ball because the minute I do I’d be out of the team here for a start."

Now those words don't say that he is staying but I think there is a hint in there? Would Ash be a certain starter every week at Anfield or the Emirates as he is here in Swansea and whilst he talks Chamions League football, Liverpool won't have that and that will also be a factor - European football is already in Swansea

Of course the big wages may tempt but sometimes a slightly smaller wage and a desire to play every week may eclipse the bigger wages and a splintered arse - just ask Scott Sinclair??

I don't have inside info on the clubs view but there is an argument that Ash is more valuable to us than most at the club (or even everyone?) and that will factor in what our thoughts are but I just can't help but feel that Ash is going nowhere just yet at least.

Only time will tell whether I'm right??
