Brendan - I Thought We Were Outstanding

Brendan Rodgers hailed his outstanding side after their win at the DW Stadium

Rodgers said after the game "I thought we were outstanding today and it was a convincing win

"We showed every element of our game, and the players were fantastic.

"We've scored two goals but it could have been three or four; Scott had one cleared off the line in the first half and we had a number of other chances.

"We had to show the other side of our game after the sending off, but I still thought we were in control and we restricted them to very few chances.

"Even though they have only won once at home they have had some good results here, but we were incredible today and we fully deserved the three points," he said.

"Our creative invention was fantastic but you also need that resilience in your game, and that was something that we had been working very hard on in training this week."

"The referee was in a good position. Nathan is not a malicious player, his foot is up and he's tried to get the ball but in the modern game you can get sent off for that.

"We are very much about team spirit and hard work at the club, and the players typified that terrifically today.

"He creates goals and scores goals," said Brendan in relation to his double goalscorer Sigurdsson. "He's got great stature for a midfielder and he's someone who has a great instinct for scoring goals.

"You need players with that quality at this level and you could see that with his first goal - it was a terrific strike.

"We just want to get as many points as we can and see where it takes us, but we have another tough game next weekend that we're looking forward to."
