Tongey.....Hall-ey....Jonesy?....Jeromey?

Neil Warnock is begging Ken Bates to let him bring in "one or two" more players on loan.

The Leeds manager has seen his squad descimated by injuries this season, although he has just got David Norris and fellow midfielder Paul Green back there are now doubts about Michael Tonge (shoulder) and Rodolph Austin and Lee Peltier both nursing ankle injuries.

Add these to the long-term absentee strikers Ross McCormack and Davide Somma, you see Warnock's point of view. Indeed he has been linked with Stoke pair Kenwynne Jones and Cameron Jerome and admitted it would be nice to have either of them.

The Leeds manager said: "It would still be nice to have more in the squad to allow us to change things.

"We’re going to work on that. I’m talking to the chairman about trying to bring one or two loan players in.

"We have to be able to change it a little bit more and we’ve got to have pace over the top when we’re behind or when we want to push on and win a game.”

Having brought in Michael Tonge from Stoke, the Potters seem a little more reluctant to let Kenwyne Jones leave. Stoke boss Tony Pulis said: "Kenwyne won’t be going anywhere. There’ve been lots of enquiries about lots of players but at the moment we want to look after ourselves.”

Last week Warnock succeeded in signing Southend winger Ryan Hall on loan with the view to a permanent transfer in January, however Hall has been confined to the bench. Warnock explained it is a case of fitness, Hall has played just 180 minutes of football this season following his exile from Roots Hall and he apparently also needs to work out how we play.

Watching Tuesday nights feeble performance the poor lad is probably wondering just what he has let himself in for!
