Taxi for Hackney
Winger Simon Hackney has rejected the contract that was on offer at Spotland, bringing his dismal time at Spotland to a close.
It was something surprising in the first place that Hackney was offered a new deal after a twelve month spell in which he missed all but the last two games of the season. He suffered an abdominal injury in preseason that ruled him out until late April, and it was assumed that the contract that he was offered took this into account.
But that contract was not to Hackney's liking, and it was reported on Thursday that he had rejected that offer. It is not expected that Dale will look to increase the offer in a bid to prolong his stay at Spotland.
