Time For A Hero To Emerge

In any succesful season, usually a hero emerges just at the right time to sbnatch victory from the jaws of disaster, so far this season its been pretty much a team effort, but who will be the last day hero ?

Perhaps the nearest we have to a late saviour emerging is Billy Sharp, after initially falling down in the pecking order, in the past month or so he has come back with a vengeance, scoring some vital goals to keep us in the top two, now we await whether it will be Billy himself who will be the last day hero or whether another will step from the ranks.

Of course there are some who have been hero's all season turning it on regularly, but now its time for someone to step up to the plate and prove the old adage "Cometh the man cometh the hour", so will it be the likes of Lambert, Sharp or even Lallana, the obvious candidates who put in a 10 out of 10 match winning performance to guide us home, or will it come from one of the unsung hero's of the side, could it be Danny Fox who for all his assists this season still has his doubters who cant seem to get over Dan Harding being dropped, will it be Jack Cork who sometimes shows the undoubted talent he has but not consistently enough, could it be Morgan Schneiderlin who doesnt score many but when he does they are usually classics, or could it be a very unlikely source, Danny Butterfield, Fraser Richardson or even a substitute like Arron Martin.

I do pray to god though it isnt Kelvin Davis, not through any disparaing thoughts as to his ability, purely from I couldnt bear to think of the shreds that my nerves will be in if we are on the back foot so much that its Kelvin who has to put in the heroics.

Whoever it is will be guaranteed a place in the history books, Tony Funnell didnt play many games for Saints, 11 starts plus 4 as sub in our promotion season but the 8 goals he scored were vital, when the final tally was made his goals were worth six points (in the days of two points for a win) to the club and the difference between going up and staying down, Saints fans of a certain age remember Funnell with affection, strangely he would only play a further two games for the club the following season before departing.

Fatigue or Fortune? Leeds Held to Draw by Resilient Blackburn

Top of the Table: Leeds finish 2024 at the summit after Stunning Team Goal!
Once again we dominated the possession in an away game, but struggled to make it count. That was before a superb team goal in the 79th minute finally broke through the Derby County defence, and that proved to be enough to ensure that we finish 2024 on top of the Championship table.
Farke Seeks Improvement Despite Comfortable Win in the Fog
Even though we went back to the top of the table Daniel Farke thought we should have won more comfortably, but we were more than good enough to beat a woeful Stoke City. For the third time in 2024 a Leeds win cost an opposing manager his job, after Narcis Pelach was called in to collect his P45 yesterday morning.
Derby Awaydaze
Our first visit to Derby County four five years is at 5.45pm tomorrow, which has of course been dictated by Sky Sports. We’re not famous any more!
Stoke Awaydaze
Our visit to Stoke City is on Boxing Day evening, with kick-off at 8pm, having been put back by our very good friends at Sky Sports.
From Frustration to Relief: Leeds United Equalise in Dramatic Final Moments
We should have been playing against ten men for over half this game, but in the end Leeds had to be content with a point after forcing a very late equaliser against Preston North End.
