Saints Linked With Spurs Wide Man

Saints could be about to sign Spanish midfielder Iago Falque  from Spurs.

The title of this article actually doesnt tell the full story about Iago Falque, yes he is currently at Tottenham, but he is actually on a season long loan from Juventus, however with first team opportunities extremely limited at White Hart Lane, its understood that both Spurs and Juventus would be happy to see him loaned elswhere for the remainder of the season.

The player's career has not exactly got off the gorund so far, especially as he will be 22 in April, at Juventus he has yet to make a first team appearance in nearly five years and a season long loan at Villareal saw him play only one game, coming on as a substitute   for a brief 5 minute cameo, although he did play for the Villareal reserve side on numerous occasions in the Spanish second division.

If he hoped to kick start his career at Spurs then he was to be disapointed, up until last week  2 starts plus 3 as sub in the Europa league have been his only first team action until a 14 minute run out in the FA Cup against Cheltenham last Saturday.

If Saints do sign him on paper he sounds like exactly the sort of player we need, able to play in a number of positions but in the main being small and nippy out wide would be his best position, an area where we have struggled for various reasons, given that he would be a loan signing his loan fee and wages would be fairly cheap, hopefully this might be the chance he has been waiting for and it could bolster our faltering promotion campaign, but history shows us that over the past 7 years or so we have had a plethora of players who on the face of it had exactly the same profile, but we soon discovered that there was a reason for their lack of success, they just werent very good for one reason or another.

Top of the Table: Leeds finish 2024 at the summit after Stunning Team Goal!
Once again we dominated the possession in an away game, but struggled to make it count. That was before a superb team goal in the 79th minute finally broke through the Derby County defence, and that proved to be enough to ensure that we finish 2024 on top of the Championship table.
Farke Seeks Improvement Despite Comfortable Win in the Fog
Even though we went back to the top of the table Daniel Farke thought we should have won more comfortably, but we were more than good enough to beat a woeful Stoke City. For the third time in 2024 a Leeds win cost an opposing manager his job, after Narcis Pelach was called in to collect his P45 yesterday morning.
Derby Awaydaze
Our first visit to Derby County four five years is at 5.45pm tomorrow, which has of course been dictated by Sky Sports. We’re not famous any more!
