LFW Pub Guide - The Castle

A little further afield, but a quiet pint with excellent food is on offer a minute from Holland Park tube station.

Name of pub: The Castle

Location: 100 Holland Park Avenue, one minute from Holland Park Station.

Size: Medium

Selection of beers? Good selection, usual suspects plus guest real ales.

Price of drinks? Standard.

How full does it get on a matchday? It doesn't.

How fit are the bar staff? Varies - the females change regularly but are always presentable.

How long does it take to walk to the ground from there? Five minutes on tube to White City Station.

Sky Sports/ESPN? Sadly not - the one downside.

Suitable for away fans? Yes - but you'd never see them. A big plus when you want to avoid them.

Suitable for families and kids? Yes.

What's the smoking situation? Street smoking.

Beer garden? No.

As far as pub toilets go, just how bad are these? Very good.

Does it serve food and is it any good? Very good food, burgers, club sandwiches etc with chips. Not cheap but no need for a second mortgage either.

Trendy modern bar, traditional pub or somewhere in between? Traditional, really comfortable and welcoming.

In one sentence why should people visit/steer clear of this pub? Visit - No queuing for drinks, always get a seat and a good place to avoid the drama when certain teams visit Loftus Road. Good option for those travelling to the ground on the Central Line from Oxford Circus etc. Stay away - Inconvenient if you live close to the ground - no Sky. Too quiet if you are looking for atmosphere and pre match shouting of You Rsssss.
