Whatever Happened To... Jason Dozzell Sunday, 11th Dec 2011 08:00 by Daniel After a persistent toe injury kept him on the sidelines for over eight months, Dozzell left the U's and retired from professional football early into the 2001-02 season. The following year he signed for Canvey Island after a pre-season trial, but left after a couple of months, having made just four cameo sub appearances. He then signed for Grays Athletic, but spent an even shorter spell there than he did at Canvey, making a sub appearance in an FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie versus Stevenage. In June 2003 he was appointed player-manager of Jewson League side Ipswich Wanderers. He led them to the Division One title in his second season and left at the end of his third season because of 'off field' issues. He then joined Ridgeons League side Leiston, becoming their manager in autumn 2006. He spent a year in charge of the Suffolk side before being sacked in November 2007. In early 2008 he was convicted of drink driving and banned from driving for three years. Since then he has not been involved in football, but does regularly hold soccer schools for kids. Clubs since leaving the U's: Canvey Island, Grays Athletic, Ipswich Wanderers, Leiston. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
