None of us will ever forget what he did for this club. He saved us. There might not be a club if it hadn't been for him. RIP, thank you.

Very sad day. Thankyou Marcus for saving my club and giving me one of the most enjoyable seasons football that I have enjoyed for years. I am glad that you got to see our team win at Wembley and my lasting memory of you will be after the match with that great big smile on your face taking pictures and enjoying the occasion, just like the rest of us. A thoroughly decent and modest man who will be much missed.

He seemed like a generous and genuine man and if it wasn't for him Saints might not be around now. I hope he enjoyed being a Saint. He certainly seemed to embody the spirit of Southampton even though his association with the club was too short. I'll always be grateful for what he did for the club in it's hour of need.

Our club was on it's knees and Marcus saved us from extinction. He gave the city it's heart back and for that we will forever owe him our gratitude. To do such a momentous thing for us with such humility and good nature should act as an inspiration to us all. Thank you Marcus for everything you have done for us, we will never forget you. COYR!

From day one Markus I have been thankfull for all you have done for our club. You saved us from disaster and it is a terrible shame you have failed to live long enough to see your dreams for Southampton Football Club realised. God Rest Your Soul and hopefully you will find a good team in Heaven to share your time with.

After the long decline since 83/84 history will record it was Markus Liebherr who turned this club around. Now rather than watch us get back in the Prem on Earth he is going to have to watch from above. Cheers Markus - a true Saint.

Heaven waits for a man who has shown such kindness to so many. You picked us up at our lowest ebb. Your actions enable us to follow a dream we dared not dream. Rest awhile, whilst we friends follow your dreams for us.

Thankyou sir, for saving the Saints. I'm just so terribly sad to hear this news. Decent men and football don't usually mix but I'm absolutely sure that you were one. God rest you.

Stunned to hear this news. Markus - thank you - for saving the club, for your genorosity and indeed for reinstilling the spirit of Southampton through your own clear, excitable enthusiasm for the Saints and the community. Seeing you taking photos of the team at Wembley last season showed everyone that you were enjoying this just as much as we were, we were in it together and will remain a wonderful memory for many - hopefully including yourself. A proper gentleman and a proper Saint. Thoughts are with the Liebherr family and friends. RIP.

I'm thankful that Markus was able to enjoy Saints winning at Wembley. I doubt any of us thought the JPT would be the only trophy he'd witness his side lifting. I'm stunned at the loss of our owner and friend at only 62. Only the good die young. RIP Markus.
