Everton Pursuit Of Walker Peters Subject To Premier League Financial Sanctions
Saturday, 9th Jul 2022 09:04

Earlier in the week we reported that Everton are lining up a bid for Kyle Walker- Peters from Saints, but it appears that before they can do this, they will have a lot of negotiating to do, as it appears that any transfer has to be approved by the Premier League.

The war in Ukraine had a bigger affect on Everton that most Premier league clubs other than Chelsea when it emerged that one of their major backers was a Russian Ogliarch, that did not help their financial position that emerged of a major breach of the financial fair play rules after the Toffee's had overspent for several seasons.

Now it appears that although they have a big wedge in the bank due to the sale of Richarlison, they might not be able to spend it in it's entirety or even at all.

They are working closely with the Premier League to ensure they are complying with the profit and sustainably rules in place. Any money spent has to be approved by the Premier League, which could be the explanation for their lack of transfer activity so far.

They have £60 million in the bank from the sale of Richarlison to Spurs, and they are linked this week with both Walker-Peters and Armando Broja, if they were to but KWP from us that would be at least £20-25 million and Broja around the same.

There is no doubt that they need full backs and forwards, but their squad numbers are severely depleted after key departures this year and it seems that if they are to build their squad then they have to sell and raise money.

This is perhaps good news for Saints supporters who do not want to see KWP leave the club, the Premier League will want to see Everton make inroads into reducing their debt, any money brought in will need to help towards that, meaning that they could struggle to replace the likes of Richarlison with proven quality, Broja is not in that category just yet having scored just 6 times in the League for Saints last season.

I can't see where Lampard is going with this. Everton bought a Scottish right back in January who is proven at international level. The only thing I can think of is that Lampard has thoughts os playing K P-W. as a midfielder.

Or he may do a Ralph and play him on the left!
For me, there are 3 players that Saints shouldn’t sell at ANY price- KWP,JWP & Romeu. The rest are available for decent offers 😇

KWP would cost way more than 30 million after his England call up , his price went up even higher even scared Spurs off to go for Spence instead. Everton cant afford him

"major breach of the financial fair play rules after the Toffee's had overspent for several seasons"

So why no transfer embargo ?
I thought those are the rules ?

Talk of KWP in any form other than looking forward to him playing for Saints next season should not even be a subject or debate. Who in their right mind release the one player (in my mind) was consistently the best player for our team last season even when the rest of the team had seemed to have given up in the last third of it.

I don't care who may like them at their club or what they think he is worth in my view he is not for sale - end of.

For me KWP is a far better right back than Livramento. I would strat him and Perrault as 2 full backs (even when Tino is fit again).
