Schneiderlin Is Only Fall Back Option For United In More Ways Than One !
Tuesday, 2nd Jun 2015 09:47

After yesterdays cast iron stories that Morgan Schneiderlin was a done deal to go to Manchester united it turns out that he may only be the fall back option for the Old Trafford Club.

According to exactly the same media outlets that were screaming at us yesterday that Morgan Schneiderlin was a priority target for Manchester United and with some claiming that the deal had already been agreed, it seems that it might not be the cast iron rumour we were led to believe.

Today apparently their new number 1 target is German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger whom it is being suggested they could get for around £11 million, less than half of what they will need to pay for Schneiderlin.

A move to Schneiderlin to Old Trafford might not be the dream move he would hope for, United are quite happy with Michael Carrick as their holding midfielder, the only issue with him is he is injury prone, so Schneiderlin might not find himself an automatic choice or indeed even first choice if Carrick is fit.

That is why United are looking at Schweinsteiger, being a cheaper option and arguably better quality option he will strengthen the squad and offer options at a far cheaper price.

Whichever they sign it will be lucrative for Manchester Unites merchandising department, it wont be cheap for supporters to get either name printed on the back of a replica shirt, which perhaps gives a clue why they are not chasing Danny Ings.

Schneiderlin's options are narrowing as it is far from clear whether Arsenal are as keen as is being suggested and if they do not make their annual rumoured bid as they have failed to do over the last six years that would probably mean that if Schneiderlin wants to play in the Champ[ions League then he wont be able to stay in England to do it.

I always worry about Manure as they leak information to trusted media like the Manchester Evening News who report the position not the garbage in the national media. Whether Morgan actually goes to Manure is another matter as you say with Schweinsteiger a possibility it appears unlikely he will be willing to sit on the bench.

I support the SFC stance on not commenting about deals until they are done but the silence around Morgan, Clyney and Toby are worrying , particularly Toby where we must have triggered the buy clause in the loan contract and agreed terms with him.

Since last summer MS has been pretty clear that he's going to go to a CL team. Of course I hope he stays, but the best we can realistically hope for is a bidding war between Utd, Arsenal, and maybe PSG so that we get the most cash possible

Hmm well Schweinsteiger and Carrick are in their thirties so despite the fee being half united will get less than half the service.
Basically this shows no one really knows!

Presumably this is the same done deal that was taking NC to Old Trafford a month ago.

Maybe Morgan is of the opinion that if no-one comes in for him during the summer he is happy to continue where he is until they due. He did say he would only move for a "CL in the EPL", but he didn't give any indication that this was a done deal already. Perhaps we was just reiterating his ambition to play at the top club level some day.

Be lucky to get 15million for him.

Don't believe everything you read. The best way for Man U to get Morgan for a decent fee is to play down their interest. By hinting that they are lukewarm is one way they hope to avoid a bidding war.

They are the wrong club for Morgan and my money is still on Arsenal being his destination.
