Town Targeted Leicester Striker Nugent Saturday, 24th Dec 2011 11:00 by TWTD.co.uk Blues boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that Leicester striker David Nugent was amongst the players he was interested in signing in the summer. The former England man, a loan target of former Town boss Jim Magilton during his time in charge at Portman Road, was out of contract at Portsmouth at the end of last season. Jewell says that when he enquired about the 26-year-old his move to the Foxes already appeared to be sorted: “I spoke with his agent but I think he was always going to go to Leicester.” The Blues manager is well aware of Nugent’s record of scoring eight goals in eight games against Town, as well as netting in every match he has played at Portman Road: “He scores every time he plays against Ipswich. “He’s quick, he’s got an eye for goal and at this level he’s a proven goalscorer, that’s why we were interested in him. But I’ve said before, we were interested in a lot of players, but money talks.” Story syndicated from TWTD.co.uk Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
