| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 11:36:35 I saw the team sheet and to be honest, I thought Ro Ko was really struggling for answers after the recent run of form. But hey WTF it just shows what being a Saints supporter is all about. When your expectation is high, you get kicked in the nuts. When the expectation is low the opposition get kicked in the nuts. From the stunning goal from Cuco Martin, the whole team and the crowed got a palpable lift in confidence. Wanyama was back to his old self, harrying and bulling the midfield. The back four worked as a unit, JWP and Davis ran after everything and Mane and Long could have had a few more between them. Not even a very poor Referee could disappoint the rampant Saints |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 13:20:37 Vardy and Mahrez were excellent second half, sadly in the main, because after S Davis went off we lost control of midfield. This was exasperated by Kelvin kicking the ball straight down the throats of Leicester. Jordy Clasie must have something that big Ron admires, but I have to say that there was no evidence that he will cope with Premier league football on display yesterday afternoon. |

| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:06:47 Like the game at Stadium MK, very stop start. Great to see a goal from a set piece, and pleased that VVD is off the mark, could have been two but for some good goalkeeping. Lost our shape a bit after Davis went off and J W-P moved further forward allowing Swansea more of the ball. Referee over fussy, which didn't help the game, blew up every time Ayew threw himself to the grass in the hope of Wanyama getting a card. Mane MOM again for me, he is a non-stop running machine and deserved his goal. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:54:32 I's already been said, Targett too slow, out of his depth and offered no cover from Long, who drifts into the middle too often. Yoshida works hard but struggles with Targetts indecision. Cedric gets forward but leaves gaping holes behind him that Tadic cannot cover, which in turn exposes Fonte. Davis is much better linking play than breaking up the opposition. Romeu looked better next to Wanyama. Referee looked fairly intent on giving Pelle nothing. Everton executed a good game plan and worked at our weaknesses. Indeed there is some work for Ronald to do. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:42:10 Considering, that normally we would still be in pre-season and the spine are new to each other, it was a good display if a little flat in the second half. Mane and Victor were immense, Matt Targett has a fabulous curling long ball forward and Yosh looks more comfortable than ever. Room for improvement but it is early doors. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:55:14 Very poor refereeing and lino completely inept. Having said that, if you don't score you don't win. We really miss Bertrand pushing up the left, that petulant red card has really cost us, Lovren on a yellow card should have been pushed much harder. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 22:15:58 Very well organised defensively, Alderweirledis a class act, and Yohsida was top draw playing out of position. without two pacey full backs to push the game up the park we were under the cosh for long periods and often there wash't an out ball which didn't make for an entertaining game. A point against a very good team was well earned. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:06:34 Saints had to beat Everton and a very poor ref. Justice was done with the Lukaku og which should have been a pen with Jagielka being carded. In fact the poor ref galvanised the crowd who got solidly behind the Saints and in was splendid that the second goal went in as 'When the Saints go marching in' was ringing around the ground. Just shows what positive support can do. Harrison Reed, what a game he had, just edges my mom in front of Yoshida, Clyne and Davis |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:21:33 Harry parked the bus and the game was a struggle, especially against Clattenburge who was determined to give us nothing. Sadio Mane struggled with the high line but showed loads of promise. Wanyam had a commanding game and Bertrand looked good all match. Long changed the game when he came on and Pelle scores again. 3 points and still second in the BPL whats not to like. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 11:36:05 Saints not only creating chances but scoring goals as well!! There's a novelty...... Fab game and fab entertainment, topped off with the return of Franny Benali, truly top bloke |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:21:06 codge got it right. Poor strike force, poor ref, poor substitutions. Not impressed with Lallana's dive in the area, not impressed with Swarez dive over Fonte in the area. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:33:24 Chelsea, were the best visiting side I have seen at SMS this term so far. The blues got everything spot on, especially substitutions and tactics, but it helps when you have world-class players warming the bench and itching to prove a point. Saints were simply toothless up front, JRod and Gaston were just not at the races and the blue defence, especially Terry and Cahill, was very resolute. When Cork and Davis came off the midfield was overrun and the back four were exposed to some wonderful football from Willan, Tores and Oscar.. I’m afraid Saints looked very ordinary… |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:11:53 Hull were not the pushover that the score suggests. Saints worked hard and played some exceptional football at times for this result. All the pre-match talk of manager of the month hoodoos was dispelled as a load of bullocks. Hard graft and wonderful football from the whole team but especially Clyne, Ward-Prowse, J Rod, Lambert and the outstanding Lallana won the day and Hull had no answer. The only sour note was the, help-yourself, goal given away by Wanyama in a momentary lapse of concentration, but Boruc perhaps should not have put him in that position in the first place. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 07:10:58 Scrappy encounter and hardly worth my £18 with far too many passes going astray. 2 nil was almost an injustice to Bristol who pressed us back particularly in the second half. Gully missed a sitter when the ball got stuck under his new bright yellow boots in the six yard box. It must have been the boots as Gaston seemed to be struggling with his similar foot ware apart from his sublime opening goal. If this was a runout to to help their case for inclusion in Saturdays line up the pair of them should either burn the boots or book a holiday. Highlights were Kelvin Davis and the back four with some special praise for Fox who had a blinder at left back, (not often Dan catches my eye). Man of the match for me though was JWP who challenged for everything and touched every blade of grass |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 11:53:07 After giving away an, 'help yourself goal', it was always going to be a difficult game, with Sunderland content to hold on to a one goal lead. With Di Canio's men doubling up and closing down well, especially in the first half and my fiver on a 2 nil Saints win already added to the litter in block 34 after only 3 minutes. The second half started with 2 changes for saints with Schneiderlin and Shaw off, (Schneiderlin less effective playing further forward and Shaw, more worryingly, perhaps suffering from a heavy knock in the first half) and replaced Clyne and the new 15 million-man Osvaldo. The football became much more open with the visitors perhaps having used all their energy in the first half, but even with the later introduction of Ramirez Saints were struggling to find the net. Indeed as the game trudged into the last 10 minutes I mused with the chap next to me about who would get the blame with no Gully or Fox on the pitch. We didn’t have to wait too much longer as the loud mouth three rows behind us started to berate J Rod… ironic really as personally I thought the only red shirt on the pitch who looked like he could score was J Rod. Even more ironic, the saving goal came from a defender. Jose Fonte, who, perhaps many might have thought, myself included, was a player about to be replaced in the squad, but who seems to have rolled the clock back three seasons and has been back to top form in the opening two matches this season got us out of gaol. Two lessons from this one, Saints need to defend set pieces better and need to score more from set pieces. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:41:05 3 points in the locker, a game to remember for all the right reasons and fifty quid off the bookies. I had a good day. Trouble is we get a head of steam, and then its a week off and we are generally poo after a break of any sort, enjoy the moment!! |
