| News Comment | Graham Potter Ready To Return To Management at 00:03:48
It would good if we did get Potter. I'm wondering if he isn't too expensive for Sports Republic. Their three appointments since Ralph left have been on the cheap (relatively speaking). If we are to get out of this mire then we need someone with Premier league experience. Either Potter or David Moyes. They'll have a big bonus if they keep us up. If they don't then we'll part company. It's our only chance of survival. |
| News Comment | James Ward Prowse Appears To Have Snubbed A Return ToSouthampton at 15:07:59
I wouldn't want him back. We've seen the best of him and we'd only be comparing him to the player he was, I should think unfavourably most of the time. I'd sooner have Flynn Downes and the other central midfielders we've replaced him with. If he wanted to come back, it's a bit like your ex wife (or husband) wanting to come back when your happily re-married. We've moved on, so leave well alone. |
| News Comment | Nathan Jones Expected To Be Confirmed As Southampton Manager Today at 11:38:34
As the Supremes once (almost) sang, "Nathan Jones you'll be gone before long". What fantastic hindsight. My dream was for Marcello Gallardo, I pictured myself in my old 2010 Saints shirt (with the red sash) in homage to him as it's akin to his beloved River Plate . Now he's out of the picture I'm looking at the scenario of by the time the new bloke goes Everton would have sacked Frank. Then hopefully our betters (the board) will grab him with both hands. I hope to god. |
| News Comment | Glenn Cockerill Receives Forever Saint Award at 12:25:30
The only "FOREVER SAINTS" I know are supporter's. They don't flit from club to club on a (nowaday's their agent's) whim. Even our one club legend (LeGod) was a THFC fan. It is only supporter's who don't stray from their first love/team. It is with them for LIFE, but then ,supporter's are not mercenaries! |
| News Comment | Saints 2021/22 Fixtures - The Toughest Start Possible Historically at 12:01:36
After 52 season's I've decided to give up my lovely positioned seat in block 32,and it took me quite a few seasons of moving seat's to get there. Lot's of reasons e.g. VAR, the vast sums of money swishing around in the Premier League. It's just a money making machine for all involved other than the poor supporter (we're just "heritage fan's"now). I am disenfranchised. The results at home over the last five year's have been awful. The season before last we got 52 points, but we had the 2nd worst record at home. The dream for me is to see Saints play in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. We didn't have a shot on target!, we defended ok but were crap going forward. I just can't take defeat after defeat anymore. I can't bounce back after a couple of day's like I used to & look forward to the next game. For my mental well being I am going to stay away. After the last five seasons I am not going to put myself through suffering a relegation again. WE ARE SLEEP WALKING INTO RELEGATION. What more does Ralph need to do to prove it's not working. He is not motivating the player's, he's lost it. All he did in the latter half of last season was to prove that he is not up to the task of turning it around. Don't blame injury's, all clubs get injury's, it's his squad & his decisions and they're not working. The proof of this is that WE GOT JUST 14 POINTS IN THE LAST 21 League GAMES ( plus another 0-9). I can't see myself going back untill he's gone, and I forsee that to be next (2022/23) season in the second division ( I'm not into all this re-branding lark). Oh for the heady day's of Koeman, he got us playing & winning, but no one liked him though. Where as everyone loves Ralph & he has got us playing badly & losing! See you all the season after next after a big clear out and the start of another fresh begining. |
| News Comment | On This Day In History 27th April 1996 - Battle In Bolton at 11:12:25
I remember 46 years ago today. We won 3 - 0 at Everton, but alas as Birmingham drew we were RELEGATED. I remember for ages afterwards, when I walked around Southampton thinking it is now a second class city. |
| News Comment | Absolutely ******* Disgraceful at 11:59:06
It's worse than just the Saints worst result in our history. IT'S THE WORST RESULT FOR A HOME TEAM IN THE 131 YEAR HISTORY OF THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE ! |
| News Comment | Nathan Redmond Proving His Critics Wrong ! at 14:59:08
We''ll be able to compare Redmond to the Bournemoth left winger (Fraser) on Saturday. In my opinion (so that's 99% fact) Fraser has overtaken Redmond. N.R. won't get injured because he wouldn't dream of going in for a 50-50. When did you last see him win a tackle, when did you last see him make a proper tackle?. Ive seen it from Elyonouzi . No, too often when he is going forward with the ball, as soon as a big ugly opponent get's to him he then looks to pass it instead of being brave & go past him. HE IS LIGHT WEIGHT. I'm a Saint's supporter ,so I want him to do well, but i'm not naive and love isn't blind. |
| News Comment | Another New Signing Imminent at 19:15:06
I think we will keep all 5 cd's. This signing tells me that we will play a 3-4-2-1 formation. We haven't got a stand out central defender, there all much of a muchness There not good/confident enough to entrust just two in a game at the moment. |
| News Comment | Southampton MP Backs Safe Standing at 19:36:15
Most annoyed. This is the 2nd time you've used this picture with an article. This isn't Saints supporter's!, Your showing United supporter's who have taken the Milton! I can give the exact dates if asked, but it would be either the 73/74 season or 76/77 season. I can think of another occasion, but that was winter time (not a sunny day) during the 1970/71 season (lost 2-5) I thought I erased all memory of these occasions, but its all come flooding back. |
| News Comment | Saints Interested In Jack Wilshere at 10:25:41
For a start we don't pay the wages to attract the likes of Willshire, and nor should we when we'd be lucky to get half a season (of games) out of him. We should offer him a pay as you play contract, & I've no doubt he would tell us to coff - far away! |
| News Comment | It's Not To Late To Go To Everton at 14:30:02
I put it down to apathy, plus it's "up north". disappointedly Everton seems too far for too many Saint's supporter's.For me, the main criteria for being a " Big Club " is consistently ( for decades) selling out your away allocation. Personally, I'm looking forward to being in an "Archie Leach" Stand again. All be it a larger version of the West & East Stands. |
| News Comment | Saints At Leicester City The Preview at 14:57:49
We need at least 9 points to stay up. Therefore at least 2 wins. That will give us 37 points & I think we would finish level with the Terrier's & the seagull's. The wins will also improve our goal difference, which it could all come down to.MAKE IT HAPPEN! |

| News Comment | Austin Rallies The Troops ! at 11:05:40
Put him in the team. He'll be good for an hour, and he'll give more to the cause than we've seen from Carillo. We need players in the team who make things happen! |
| News Comment | Hughes On £2 Million Bonus To Keep Saints Up at 22:33:31
I hope he does well, indeed I hope he turns out to be the best manager in the clubs history !. But is the SPARK still there?, I think he's had his day. He got the sack from Stoke for christ's sake!, and there a worse team than us!. THEY WERE GLAD TO SEE THE BACK OF HIM. Just as we were glad to see the back of Pelegrino. He's been sacked 4 times ( I cant remember what happened at Fulham). I can see it's quicker to get someone in quickly if they are not already at a club, as our last 4 manager's. If they have Hughes in to keep us up,give him a big thank you ( wedge of cash) if he succeeds . Then for once pay out compensation to get a manager - Jokanovitch ( hopefully Fulham wont go up) a manager who is motivated & improves players. Then I'd say fantastic, the board are my darling's !. But alas it wont happen I know because I'm a realist, still its nice to dream. |
| News Comment | Saints Will Play Wigan ! at 22:35:05
We'll get the whole of the North Stand apparently. It holds 5500 but is restricted to 4800 for away supporters. Happy ( well, happier anyway ) day's are around the corner ! |
| News Comment | Saints Move A Step Closer To Carrillo at 13:09:27
This manager dosn't realise that the answer isn't to get another striker( supposedly better than we have ) , but to play two up front!. For christ sake we need goal's but if we had Harry Kane up front, HIS FORM WOULD GO BACKWARDS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE'S (almost) in the team. M.P has got to change the formation & tactics so the striker/s is/are not so isolated. We've seen play safe tactics all bloody season. It's time to put more emphasis on scoring & not being content to let the opposition have the ball, sit back & defend. It hasn't worked. There being asked to play that tactic for too long in games. So what do we do?, how about playing in the opposition half more!. He' s got to do something differently, time is running out. Does he watch football on TV ?, I do & I see teams playing that way. Even Bournemouth ( v Arse ). We've got to go for it more, if we don't we'll go down with a wimper!. |
