Kairo
at 10:58 14 Oct 2024

All this discussion about Kairo`s transfer prospects is very interesting but am I the only one concerned about the current striker crisis?

Kairo now has about 50% of all Dale goals this season. Rodney has 20% and is now injured and looks increasingly an injury doubt. Only McBride with 3 could be said to contributing from midfield.

Ayinde and McBride also injured.

Kairo will be a heavily marked man from now on. The word will be round the managers. Mark Mitchell and Rochdale don`t score.

We now have a run of 7 games:
Southend
Halifax
Barnet
Sutton
Wealdstone
Oldham

Anyone see any easy games there?

Perish the thought but what if Kairo gets injured? We have no other strikers fit. Why has Jim allowed this situation to arise?

Plus there are FA Cup games to come. Fascinating this talk of who we`d like to meet. I would settle for the one with the weakest defence.

What a find. 22 years old. Sign him up quick before somebody else does.

Our defence
at 10:18 2 Sep 2024

Surely someone will correct me but is this the youngest and least experienced back line we have ever had.?

Gordon 22 39 appearances
Ferguson 24 29 appearances
Beckwith 22 94 appearances

Gordon has 6 starts for Sheff Utd but all others for all 3 are at NL level.

Considering this what a cracking performance from them as a unit over the last 2 games.

This fantastic Board of Directors
at 09:56 30 Aug 2022

Whilst we diehard fans have ben concentating on dressing room and onpitch issues these last few weeks, I think we may have undervalued the fantastic efforts of the Board these last few months in particular.

These things don`t happen overnight.

The seven directors have bought out the Americans, Andrew Kilpatrick and Messrs Bottomley and Rawlinson. At what cost we may never know, but I am sure it was at some great expense to all of them. In time, money and effort, but acting as a solid team.

57% of the shares are now in secure hands plus one very well known ex Director, and the remainder in the hands of smaller shareolders (over 500 of us).

So we now have a proper Board rather than a one-man empire, and who are determined to succeed and open new avenues of income. And have put their money where their mouths are.

Sure we have to put things right on the pitch, but let`s not lose sight of the fantastic turnaround in the strength of the offpitch management.

Now let`s get behind Jim Bentley. He will need all the support he will get in trying to develop somebody else`s team.

Up the Dale (and the Board and Manager).

Castleton Timber and Heywood Plastics stand sponsorship
at 10:41 29 Jul 2022

So pleased to see some involvement from south of Rochdale.
As you can tell from my forum name, it relates to the building on the main road through Castleton where Queensway branches off, and where my father worked for 50 years. More recently called TPT, close to Tweedale & Smalleys and also the All in One Garden Cenre which used the watering can symbol to sponsor our shirts.
Also Heywood where my aunt lived who donated to me my Dale shares.

Happy days.

Burnley
at 13:37 20 Sep 2021

Watching the Premier League matches this weekend I was reminded how few English players there are at the top.

But some did stick out

Burnley and Villa both started 9 "English" players
Southampton 8

down to Chelsea 1 (European champions!)
Wolves, Brentford and Liverpool 2 each.

For simplicity I`ve included Scots, Welsh and Irish in the totals- we have over a century of accepting British players as "home" players.

60% of the players who started were foreign. Why on earth do we criticise the lack of success in tournaments?

Shareholdings
at 12:24 25 Aug 2021

Has anyone noticed that the shareholding numbers per the latest Companies House details dated 28 June don`t add up to the total shares issued? There is a shortfall of some 40,000 shares. We need to know at this dangerous time exactly who owns the shares in our club.

By my reckoning there are 502,957 issued shares per the last published accounts.
I have ploughed through the Companies House lists which show
Andrew Kilpatrick 110,000
The Americans 74,685
Andrew Kelly 58,250
Graham Morris 31,772
David Kilpatrick 22,397
Geoff Brierley 14,387
Graham Rawlinson 14,250
David Bottomley 12,960
The Dale Trust 12,625
Tony Pockney 12,500
The Fitton Sisters 7,538
Andrew Hilton 5,200
Chris Cheetham 5,000
Robin Mathieson 5,000
Mark Smith 5,000
Colin Parton 5,000

These total 80% of the total shares.
It is easy to see where the famous 42% control figure came from (Messrs Kilpatrick/Americans/Bottomley and Rawlinson) but otherwise the remaining 20% of the holding comes from 8 individual holders of between 1,000 and 5,000 shares and totalling 8% of the total shares, and then a cool 303 of the rest of us holding under 1,000 shares, and which only represents 4% of the total.

Stick with me I`m nearly there!

The remaining 8% are not listed.

A clue- Jim Marsh is listed as having disposed of his 35,000 shares in April this year, but nobody is shown as having bought them. Likewise John Faulks with his 6,360 shares on the same date.

All this is public information on the Co House site.
