Saw a stat that said after if the season started after the first 12 games our form since then would put us 4th place.Havent checked it but assuming its true thats not so much a what if but a what can be. |

What fighting spirit they showed i thought it was all over when it went 2-1 but they didnt!. We dominated the second half and the goal was no suprise if very late. Saints have had bad habit of not coming back from a losing position but this shows the mentality has changed.
As for defensive lapses being mentioned again we were up against expensive world class speedy attackers who have been unstoppable recently Of course they will make chances cant stop them all the time. Id say we arent higher up the league because we havent finished teams off when we could have killed the game more than normal defensive errors.
Best form of defence is attack Everton for one should have been finished off before they got their wonder goal. What about we''ll score more than you instead of insisting on a clean sheet every game. |

Had Saints scored that everton goal i doubt you would have blamed their cbs. It was brilliant pass and superb finish. Credit where due to them. Defenders get caught forwards create chances with skill , Jan and Jack will get better the more they play and have the potential to become a great pairing.We drew because of missed chances when we dominated . You cannot expect defenders to be faultless for 90 minutes or all games would be nil nil give them a break. |

Before this game we had the 4th best goals against in the last two months and this was Liverpool we were playing with world class forwards.
They could not break us down the first half and they needed the boost of a clear penalty being denied plus a first goal before they got their tails up and did what they have done to every team in the league and won.
You seem bit obsessed with blaming our cbs for every goal in every game when in fact credit must be given to the other teams forwards for making chances.
Jack and Yan have been performing admirably Ralph obviously thinks or he wouldnt have let Yoshi go or bought a new cb.
Why break up their partnership when they are growing and learning together.
We are short of fb cover that is more of a concern if bertrand gets injured. |

Good article UI but i dont get the need to buy a new CB Bednarek and Vesty doing a great job and will only get better with more games undroppable right now. Jack doing well too and Yoshi will be back soon. Then theres Hoedt who Rh seems not to want but isnt that bad if needed alongside the other three.Selling him would free a place up but signing someone to sit on the bench isnt a priority.
Id say a striker is the priority given some our injury woes and inexpereince in that position.
i have long said the sqaud is better than some believe and the only reason team like bmouth brighton are above us is because they had better managers |

Good post as usual Nick Im getting mighty sick of the ranting and raving by fans who are doing anything but support the club.Fans were screaming for Kat to sell the club She did no sooner than Gao had bought it then all the negative conjecture calling him a criminal and out to asset strip came out.There are easier ways to make money with 200 million than investing in a football club with little history of winning trophies.
The board are blamed for not keeping up with the jones;s(the top 6) its hardly their fault we cant spend hundreds of millions. Lies and twisted stats are thrown out to prove the club is rotten to the core. They are accused of selling players when the fact is the players wanted to go to big clubs and nothing can be done except get the best money for them.
The continually moaning about everything is just lowering morale splitting the fan base which is seeping on to the terraces and to the pitch. Little wonder they cant win at home and do better away these fans are doing more damage to the club than Reed and co.
Its like some self fullfilling prophecy where these so called supporters will claim to be right if we go down when they are in fact doing little to support the club when needed.
The raving at the club and slagging off players when we lost to multi million pound unbeaten Chelsea was embarrassing. We had 6 shots on target that game same as Chelsea losing games like that went send us down but fans getting at the players will. |

Good balanced post Nick Those fans who continually go on about how badly the club is run and how awfull new players are (after just few games in the pl) are drip feeding negativity into the fan base which in turn seeps onto the terraces and into the the players.
Our fans seem to expect new players to be the finished product when the finished product costs 3 times the amount we pay and thats if those kind of players would even come to us.
Its non productive and anyone who doesnt agree is then labeled a happy clapper.
Its just having a bit of faith and pateince which is sadly lacking.
Somebody posed a question 'what would you think of Reed if saints finished in the top 6 this year' and the answer was 'that we did it in spite of him not because of him' Well thats the mentality you are up against with articles like this.
Gao is also under fire just because he hasnt splashed humdreds of millions or come out with some statement blowing smoke up peoples @rses that will be in the CL in a few years.. Even if he did the same people would then laugh at him. The Wolves owner has said something similair well easier said than done hope for him their fans our more patient than ours. |

Apart from the late penalty at home to west ham i cant remember us getting any luck at all,none that changed a game.
I m never one to moan about luck as i beleive it evens itself out.top 6 clubs excluded,so hopefully on that basis it will come in the last 4 games.
We will need it no matter how well you play if it goes against you that you will fail.
But i really cant recall a worse season for decisons and just plain bad luck. |

We all know we needed 3 points but another loss would have been a disaster for confidence esp with the semi final coming up.
This wasnt the game to throw caution to the wind and as Hughes said the time for throwing everything at it is coming.

Think you are reading too much into this. Mh did explain his reasons for Carrillo that he is going with proven players not the time to risk a player who has yet to score.
Lemina apparently has some injury issues and why risk him with even bigger games coming up,And with Davis you know what you are getting.
As for Boufal well maybe its true he isnt 100% right now i dont beleive Hughes would feel the need to make up stuff as to why he isnt playing.I rate the player and Im sure in a side playing well he would shine but maybe he isnt the man for the battles ahead. |

It will be amazing if we dont sell most of our tickets .Some are not going because they say we will lose,seems they have lost grip of the underdog philosphy.
They play they may win they may lose but thats called supporting and as you say once in blue moon these games come around.
I think and have allways thought (being a pessimist) we will probably lose every game we play but never stopped me going.
Some have become so obseessed with hating Reed that it overules any logic or realism and they by not going will miss out on memory be it good or bad. |

Great second half but its a case of too little to late which sums up the season.
We are now 4 points away from safety and with two tough games v chelsea and away game at leicester days before the semi final we probably will be at least 6 points adrift if we dont achieve two unlikely results.
This defeat however unlucky it was was the game that opened up the gap between us palace huddersfieid and swansea and for me i cant see us staying bar up a miracle. |
