| News Comment | Saints Talk Up Plans For The Future at 18:26:38
Whats sort of thing to say is that, quote: “We know we can’t continue to offer the same thing year after year because we need to do new things to keep the fans coming" does he not goto the games and watch the same old dire f*c!ing sh!t being severed up week after week, year after year, masquerading as football???? yep your right nick, he does need to be taught PR |
| News Comment | Lallana Mooted For St Mary's Return at 22:21:42
he was a good player for us at theme, but why on earth would we want a player that is not good enough for Liverpools reserve side? We need to be singing talent, not has beens. is that really all saints are now, a place for cast offs to Come to for an easy pay cheque? |
| News Comment | Huddersfield Date Confirmed In FA Cup at 19:28:58
The1st Saturday in January is the best sporting day in the calendar in my view, it should be left to play the FA cup 3rd round, every FA cup game 3pm on the Saturday. I would even go as to say no TV cameras are allowed that day it should be left for the fans who attend matches. Ever since I was a small lad it’s the day I looked forward to most, when the biggest teams join into the greatest cup competition in the world. |
| News Comment | Rumoured Departure Hints At Coaching Shake Up At Saints at 16:57:13
"BoondockSaint added 14:46 - Nov 6 OK, so the Saints have only won 2 games all season, get destroyed 9-0 at home and are barely above the relegation zone and the board's response is to sack the U23 ???? " I was reading the text and thinking I need to comment but I just didn't know how to write what I wanted to say. BoondockSaint summed it up perfectly!!!! all that was missed was a "WTF" |
| News Comment | Why So Many Tickets Left Unsold In The Northam End ! at 20:06:29
Well said saintbrock!! Occasional fans are not welcome and therefore new ones are not as well, I'm not sure how a new fan base is meant to be created. I found that out last season, I was a season tick holder for many many years, have not bothered this year to get a ticket. Not that the standard or prices are enticing me to come back anyway. The ugly inside is the only way to see saints now, plus also fantasy football to make sure I pick the strikers playing against saints to guarantee a few points. Yep I transferred in an arsenal striker for this week. |
| News Comment | Are Mark Hughes Days Numbered at 20:46:07
I don't actually see what anyone is surprised, all the teams he has managed before were glad to get rid of him, he nearly became the first manager to relegate two clubs in one season. He was a complete knob when he played for us, didn't want to be with us then, so what should have changed. He was good in a good ManU team, but that's about it. Best thing to do is stick with him now, see the season out and then rebuild. Which league it doesn't matter, just let us get some pride back, and that doesn't happen with swapping managers every 20 games. |
| News Comment | Nathan Redmond Proving His Critics Wrong ! at 22:38:37
I don’t think he has proved anyone wrong, When he arrived he was not up to the required standard, what he needed was a couple of years in the reserves learning his trade in a less pressured environment, and being coached. he was shipped into a first team too early in his career. I actually think we have failed him by not training him in the background, he is getting better but has missed the opportunity to be world class, |
| News Comment | Bookies Say Saints Wont Have Another Relegation Battle at 22:53:43
I got 9/1 on sky bet, put a tenner on it. With that joke of a man in charge it’s going to be a long hard season. Everyone to their own opinion but I think we have the weakest manager in the league. |
| News Comment | North East Defender On The Radar Again at 10:14:44
If there is any truth in this it is very disappointing, going for a lower league player and the only competition to sign was bottom of the league club and a lower division club. And you suggesting that to buy him out of his contract wold cost 20-25 million pounds. If your wanting saints to be a top 8 club the signing player that the other top 8 are looking to sign should be the target. |
| News Comment | A Rough Guide To Everton at 18:38:07
We should get a result, they owe us from a few years back at the end of season when we draw 0-0 at Goodison which meant Everton stayed in the top flight. Magilton was clean through on goal and was pulled back, I don’t even remember getting a free kick when it was a clear sending off |
| News Comment | Should Virgil Van Dijk Start Against Manchester United at 13:14:17
Being realistic, we can’t score, manu can’t stop scoring, their midfield is European champions league standard and ours is mid table prem league. We may get a result but unlikely. So now the scean is set in my mind. Play VVD, get his match fitness up against an opposition who will make him work, and nothing lost. |
| News Comment | Pellegrino Speaks Out About Virgil Van Dijk at 10:44:12
Apparently not one single club made any approach for him, after all that fuss he created his ego must be very bruised. It would be like dumping your misses to get a better one to find she's the only one who wanted you, and now your left alone and having to crawl back on her terms, as your not as handsome as you thought you were. Almost feel sorry for him |
| News Comment | Saints Need To Turn Solid Start Into A Great Start ! at 12:56:30
As much as I want to positive and it be a great season ahead it’s not been a solid start by a long way, we’ve have played 3 teams that will be in the bottom third of the league at the end of the season and 1 team from the division below. We have only scored in one of those games and conceded 4 goals. 3 of those games were at home. Now if that was against top 6 opposition or it was away games it would be time to celibate, but currently no. You need to rewrite this in 6 games time. |
| News Comment | All We Are Saying Is Give Us A Goal ! at 21:41:07
Redmond won’t get 15, he’s not good enough,3 in the league and 2 in the cups perhaps. Assists 5 is my bet. But on a more positive note we need to get the bloke who sold t-shits outside the dell in the good old days back, I still have my ‘I was there when Franny scored’ t-shirt somewhere. It’s needs to say ‘I was there when Southampton scored’ LOL, he will make a fortune! Might have to wait a few weeks yet though before he makes a sale. |
| News Comment | Pellegrino Linked With Alaves Defender at 14:38:36
Funny how things are remembered isn't it. That lunging tackle was quite poor, but seen yellow cards issued for such stuff as well. The lunge was bad but Dyer made the most of it, the lad could run very fast, deceivingly so, I think Tahar was just caught out by the pace and that made it a lot worse, dyer rolled about about a 1/4 of the pitch and then cried like a little girl to anyone in ear shot for the next couple of weeks. That same challenge on most players would just end up with a small trip and no damage done. As it was Dyer wasn't hurt anyway, plus he over rated himself was no where near as good as he thought he was, suing other players, what a caunt. As for Tahar, he scored a couple for us, as you say put in a few great performances, but how I remember him was the day we all wore fezzes and bought Kazoo's to the game. a much better way to remember him. |
| News Comment | Saints V Stoke City The Preview at 15:21:31
In 50 years time this may be looked back on as the 4th most successful, but that depends on how you measure success, thats if a cup final and top half of the table is success. Because what will have been forgotten as you say is the dreadful style of football, the only reason we got into a cup final was the we missed the first round and then played teams who were not bothered to progress in that cup. The Europa league was embarrassing, we beat inter yes, but we didn't look like scoring from open play, it was a penalty and an own goal. The rest of the games were embarrassing to be a saints fan, putting out weakened teams. Well the FA cup, king shocking 5-0home defeat. even my dad left early and that is the first time in 60 years of watching them. So if poor football, weakened teams, cup exits (also remember we didn't actually win the cup!!!) creating record for the longest period of not scoring a goal at home is your measure of success, then I'll never be giving you a job as your measure of success is just not good enough |
| News Comment | Ralph Krueger Non Committal On Claude Puel As He Underlines Saints Strategy ! at 21:55:32
He said - 'Here we sit in the summer of '17 and we now have 18 top, or above average, Premier League players' Is the man on drugs? VVD is well above average, Bertrand and Remaro above average the keeper on one of his rare good days, but None of the others, to say above average they would be wanted by other teams in the top half and would easily be able to walk into any of those teams, sorry but no, we have too much mediocrity, I'd actually like to see some sales this year, too much dross in our team. I'g agree if he said above average for a championship side, but not the premier. are clearly above average that you see the other teams wanting to sign, |
| News Comment | Why Has Martin Caceres Not Played For Saints ? at 11:59:41
I agree with Nick, sorry people but most of you are being a bit harsh in your criticism. for me anywhere in the top 15 this season was a positive so i'm happy with that, beating some reserve tams to get to a cup final, we also got a helping hand from last season as Europe meant we missed the first round was admirable and I had a fantastic day out that I will remember for a long time. But the way we limped out of the Europa league and the FA Cup is unforgivable, all the hard work the team put in last season to get us into europe was thrown away by an inept manager, and the embarrassment of a 5-0 thrashing at home in the FA cup, well he should have been sacked on the spot. All this plays into the situation were are in now with centre backs that are championship standard and now a mid table team with nothing to play for means no player who wants to win anything will join us. so expect same s hit next season with not even a cup to aim for as the playing staff will demish in standard. We need a Keoman standard manager who can attract a few big names to get us going again. Not an unknown as we have now, who has proven to have little tactical experience |
