| News Comment | Southampton At Bournemouth The Verdict at 09:39:36
I am not sure if I am alone in this view but I have become indifferent in watching Saints. The predictability of possession based football is a sham.. If you want analytics then "possession" in the opponents half would be far more meaningful. We are boring to watch notwithstanding the inevitability of the opposition to press us and attack at will. It was laughable that we were playing high balls to Frazer with 5 centre forwards on the bench as our only outlet after 10 minutes.. The jury has now delivered their verdict on Russball and for the grace of whatever God you beliee in, please go...Now |
| News Comment | Crucial Day For Russell Martin On Saturday at 17:50:37
To me the issue is progress. Are the players learning. Are they improving from the coaching. Are they playing as a team that knows their roles and can execute them. Can we see improvements in performance even if results are not so good? In the last 4 games we have conceded less goals but equally are not creating many chances either. WE are slow ponderous and opposition teams have realised that they only need to press near our penalty ares to score. We are currently, predictable one dimensional and boring to watch. Sadly our expectations were raised because we have a good squad of players that are disorganised and appear non motivated. The expectation is and should be that we should be in the top two. Will that expectation be realised? Unless there is a fundamental change in adopting sidways passing in your own box to players surrounded by the oppositio we will continue to fail as well as provide miserable entertainment. I think there many Saints fans that have become extremely disillusioned with the modern game and diehard fans are becoming ambivalent. Saturday afternoons should be a pleasure to anticipate rather than a predictable Dentist chair experience. How will that change? SR having a new strategy about footballl rather than the business of footbal |
| News Comment | Southampton V Leicester City The Verdict at 11:04:09
No Nick not leadership on the pitch is the problem but strategy off it. In military terms the General defines the strategy and officers execute the tactics in line with the strategy. Our General aka Martin has a kami kaze strategy and our team our the sacrificial lambs to a strategyy of possesion when we are not good enough to execute it. Insanity is continually repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different outcome. Thiis only going to end if he changes his strategy and adapts to the players abilities or he will be gone by the end of this month |
| News Comment | Southampton At Arsenal The Verdict at 10:36:18
Organisation at the back can come from a confident and able goalkeeper who handles and positions himself correctly. Bazuma is not that keeper. It has been criminal that he has played all the premier league games when clearly he is not ready yet. |
| News Comment | Saints At Chelsea The Verdict at 10:42:32
It seems that no team can defend these days.Just look at the scorelines elsewhere. While Saints may have their problems at the back Chelsea's are a lot worse given the disparity of wealth that can be used in the transfer market. Werner was outstanding but I thought we showed a lot of character and second half dominated midfield which eased the pressure off our defense. Any leader needs to be in midfield as that is where most games are won and lost. Great entertainment yesterday though |
| News Comment | Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict at 17:18:10
WE were the better side first half and Spurs were all over the place and with luck could have three and then out of the blue we gift a goal and McCarthy is rooted to his line again. Thereafter, our high line gets exposed and we could have conceded another eight. It is all very blaming Stephens but the Manager has to take the blame AGAIN. Unless we have a fast sweeper to cover our defense then every side knows exactly what to do against us. First of all we need a keeper that is not afraid to close forwards down and narrow angles not back off in a one on one. I agree we need a fast Sweeper Centre half who will org anise those in front but until we do then the SYSTEM has to change to accommodate the players we have . I would get another midfielder in place of Adams and let Djenpo play in the hole. |
| News Comment | Saints At Crystal Palace The Verdict at 09:50:08
Yes we need a leader on the pitch to organise the team. For me the worst performer yesterday was McCarthy. He was routed too his line in two occasions for the offside goal and the late horror miss by Zaha. He made no attempt to narrow angles or take on the attacker on a one on one. Goalkeepers breed confidence and can also organize a defense. Notwithstanding those comments Saints were predictable, boring and out thought tactically by Hodgson. All our subs were too late. |
| News Comment | When Does The Panic Button Get Pressed ? at 23:20:44
If only it were that simple. The owner does nothing. The DOF does nothing. The manager does nothing. The Football team does nothing. Until the owner shows his cards we will all be victims of Chinese whispers in the Championship. It is alraedy too late the whole CLUb is gripped in inertia. |
| News Comment | Saints At Burnley The Verdict at 11:16:18
The result should not gloss over the fact that this was a terrible game of football. Not the first this season either. It is the lack of energy that concerns me coupled with a lack of leadership both on and off the pitch . We lack courage and bravery for 80 minutes until Sims came on and ran and attacked defenders. It will be courage that keepos us up not caution. |
| News Comment | Why Is Nathan Redmond The Whipping Boy ? at 22:08:25
I do not rate Forster as a good goalkeeper but he had a good game yesterday.Redmond does not display any intelligence. He is not learning. He never takes his man on and all too often takes the safe option of a square ball. Defenders kow he will always come inside on the left wing. In short he is predictable. His great asset is pace but speed is meaningless if it is not used to good effect or to create space for others. His cdritism yesterday was justified IMO |
| News Comment | Saints V Happoel Be'er Sheva The Verdict at 09:42:32
This was a very poor performance that was set up by the manager to be negative. Redmond often had no options available. Midfield made no attempt to support our attack. We played for a 0-0 and it backfired. There was no pressing, no energy and no cohesion. We looked like and played like a team that was disjointed and unsure of what to do. It was a repetion of Saturday at Palace without the glaring individual errors. You cannot blame the crowd. Most of us were just bored with the dreadful sideways possession. I really fear for the rest of the season. |
| News Comment | Pompey Builders Sacked For Staplewood Prank at 10:18:22
It well have been a Prank. However, all construction has to comply with very stringent fire regulations. If there is non compliance the owners of the building are liable. That is why they were sacked and not for an excessive reaction to a stupid prank. However, it just about sums up the collective intelligence of some of the supporters from our neighbours in the effluent city having the collective nouse of a brain fart.. |
