And, as I understand it, the money received for Armstrong all counts in this financial year but the fee paid for Celar is spread over the duration of his contract. That helps this season but means that we have a cost hanging over us for future seasons. |

This This 100% This. We move the ball SO SLOWLY. There is no movement from the players in front so passing forwards is a lottery. This makes it so easy to stop us as a team. Tight marking and a bit of a press and we're completely nullified. |

I don't really hate bands but I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who really doesn't get U2. |

It has eased with age in my case, thankfully. Interested to hear that stormy weather is a trigger for several of you. That has always been a bad one for me too but I thought I was in a tiny minority. |

This might be the first test of what we've learnt over the past 2-3 years. It would be a great piece of business and a bonus that none of us expected at the start of the season. Selling at the right time is of course only one half of the equation. Good recruitment is the other half and it has to be done well to make the plan work. My head knows all this to be true but my heart still says that we've finally cracked defending and it's a pain to sell a good part of that. |
| Forum Reply | We are not safe!!! at 09:39 22 Apr 2024
We are not safe, but it would take 4 teams to overtake us to relegate us. Even if we lose our last 2 games, that means: Blackburn getting at least 1 point Plymouth getting at least 2 Wednesday getting at least 4 Birmingham getting at least 4 All 4 of those need to happen to relegate us. And, of course, we may pick up some points, which will make those requirements even higher. That is why the odds are 50/1 or longer. (I'm ignoring Huddersfield as they would need 2 very big wins). |

I was lucky enough to see pretty much all of his home games and a few away too. What a player and what a character. Just loved going to LR in those days. So many memories. |

I was lucky enough to spend my teens watching Stan at LR. My username says it all. What a player and what a character. RIP. |

We’ll lose and Dickie and Wells will score. I wonder what odds I can get on that. |

I don't think so. But it might be worth putting something on Rotherham to beat us the week after. |
| Forum Reply | St. Valentines Day Massacre?...Stoke City away match thread. at 21:58 14 Feb 2024
That was just so QPR. The day we need to be our best is the day we are our worst. The worse the opposition the worse we play. Can't see any any chance of escape now. We've blown our easier Jan & Feb and our chances to get out of the bottom 3. March is tough and I wouldn't be surprised if we end up in the bottom 2. |

Getting nervous about this one. I don't see a draw as a good result; this is a match we need to win. (Use of semi colon with thanks to the other thread!). Obviously a defeat would be a real set back. A draw would use up one of our diminishing number of opportunities to escape the bottom 3. We have a tough run of games in March so we need to pick up some wins now. |
| Forum Reply | Is this, unexpectedly, a season to be savoured after all? at 14:01 7 Feb 2024
Too early to tell. Loving the positivity at the moment but this club has let me down too often for me to trust it. Problem is that however hard I try to tell myself that, I can't help getting swept along and ending up gutted. |

My impression on the 40k at Wembley was that they were mostly real fans but included many who don't go every week, many who hadn't been for a while and some guests (I took 2!). Apart from the match itself, my abiding memory was the guy next to me who'd bumped into Stan walking down from Wembley Park station and had a selfie with the great man. I think that was a bigger thrill for him than Zamora's winner. |
| Forum Reply | Dykes in midfield? at 09:17 15 Jan 2024
Just don't get the hatred for Dykes. Yes, he's a limited striker but he works hard, is rarely injured and never hides. I thought he had a good game yesterday - and he scored. |
| Forum Reply | Colback or Dozzell? at 17:32 14 Jan 2024
I'd say that Colback was very poor. His 2 decisive contributions were: (1) Made a shocking tackle that could/should have been a red. (2) Missed a gift-wrapped chance at 0-1. We talk about needing a quality striker but any professional footballer should be scoring that. |
