A really nice touch from Athletic Bilbao (note no 'O' in Athletic, they are quite touchy about that). I heard the shirt story before, thats really cool to know they play in stripes with the saints connection and we played them in the fairs cup/eufa cup in the 70's. |

To be honest the whole situation is a complete farce. We have known for months about the players leaving. Why oh why do we take so long to get players in and then end up making what amounts to second thirrd or forth choice panic buys. The rumour if true that jack cork may be leaving make me feel like the heart and sole is being ripped out of the club we all love so much. No matter how many replacements we 'eventually' sign its going to take a long time for them to re-build the team spirit we had for the last few years. I for one find it very sad, and i dont care about all the happy clappers who look at this as glass half full and all that crap. |

If it was doable I would suggest we sign De Vrij and either Vlaar or Caulker, because if/when lovren goes we would in my opionion need 2 CB's. Still hoping we get an experienced LB as well with Matt Target as back up, then the squad would be starting to take shape...... time will tell but would be nice to see business conluded sooner rather than later for obvious reasons. |

Coulndt have put it any better, spot on sir. Was REALLY looking forward to this world cup anyway and to have 3/4 saints stars there in the england team as well as a few of the foreign guys was the icing on the cake, now it just feels a bit empty. Really hope england do well of course but it has definitely had the edge removed. I think us saints fans deserve a bit of a lift with a decent manager coming in and steadying things and looking at bringing in some new heroes...... |

I agree that it is a good chance to play some of the squad players but I also agree with Nick that we should take this trophy seriously as it is our most realistic chance of silverware which surely is what evry club is aiming for. Yes we want to finish as high as possible in the league, but surely we should give this league cup a real good go, what better way to prove that we are a very good team and if we were to win it people might just take us more seriously. Champons league is probably a step too far for now but we are definitely heading in the right direction. Love the team spirit and the footballe we are playing, long may it continue.
One final point about the league cup, if clubs are NOT going to take it seriously why dont we scrap the competition ??? |

Agree with lost boys comment, totally loved the sash shirt and it did have the element of tradition, but why the hell have we gone from retro liverpool to an aresenal/bristol city lookalike ?
Seems to me the club is being run much like the government, they dont listen to the majority opinions of the public and dont give a stuff about the culture/history and traditions and pander to the jcl's.
Nothing could stop me supporting the saints but i wont be shelling out £50 on a shirt that is mass produced for a quid with no originality, ohh sorry, yes there is, a gold saints badge ! |

Utter nonsense. why 'throw him in' ????? are you stupid enough to assume we are safe ??? as a previos post said, if forren came in and made a few mistakes he would be slaughtered and the manager would be as well for changing a winning side. yes the defence looked dodgy at the start, but it has improved as has the whole team. i for one was not overly impressed with JRod but he is performing well now to be fair to him. Forren will wait his turn and i am sure he will get a chance to shine, even if it is in pre season/next season...lets not get cocky and throw away all the hard work just to please a few sideline commentators who really know little about football management. |

Regarding your comment that KD and Jos "lose concentration" well, I would say over the course of 90 mins, let alone 46 games, lapses of concentration will occur for EVERY player because that tends to be when most goals are scored/conceeded. If every player conentrated fully for 90 mins of every game i guess there would be lots of 0-0 draws :)
I know what you are trying to say, but it just seems a little over critical of 2 players who worked so very hard for a fantastic achievement for our club.
We are not Barca mate so try to be a little less forgiving if our players have the occasional blip, they are human after all :) |

I was at that game and remember fratton end empty when we scored and soon appearing at the saints end, very frightening for a 13 year old boy I can tell you because as normal they were like f******g animals...family club of the year my arse !!! Always amazes me how 'neutrals' always say how great the blue few fans are, when in reality they are knuckle dragging cowards...

how can it help and how must it feel if your own fans are slating you ? perhaps they are the reason he sometimes has an off day or a pass goes astray as he is trying too hard to please, because like him or not he does try...so if he is wearing a saints shirt get off his back...please ;)
I am sure the culprits will be singing his name if he bangs in a couple against the skates or reading or any other team for that matter !

I am also a little nervous about tonights game mainly due to so many changes to the starting XI over recent weeks for the various reasons. lets hope the general nervousness from the fans does not get through to the players, I am sure it wont.
I am hoping/expecting a narrow win for saints, and I guess a draw would not be a disaster, a loss is unthinkable.
On separate note I did a very hypothetical points calculation and we ended up with 87 points...would that be enough for auto promotion or play off spot ???
the next 2 games will be a tough test and hopefully we can restore some much needed confidence with a couple of positive results :)
