Another push for ticket sales.
at 14:15 30 Jul 2024

I completely agree with TS on the need to move the club forward on and off the field. Seems to me that there must be a desire for the new owners not to rock the boat with the existing board members. I suppose from their point of view it was only a few months ago they had no inkling they’d be owning a controlling interest in a professional football club, so I suppose imposing too much on the old guard risks friction which they would rather avoid. How long it takes them to realise the weaknesses in the old approach - it remains to be seen. Maybe they never will.

Yes - I know - as Chaff points out - he needs to get cracking.

Dagenham and Redbridge also under new ownership have a friendly v West Ham, I know because I get regular emails from them having bought my ticket online for Dales visit last season. Looks like they have a CRM system we could do with.

I wonder how many of Dales Boxing Day floaters have had emails inviting to attend friendlies for free if you sign up to a six match pass (for example)….

I’ll no doubt be told to give the new owners time, but time, is of the essence particularly preseason.

Falling apart with the bat now. Poking around against spin. Outclassed with bat and ball.

Decent start for England. Pitch is a bit dead. Will the rain hold off??

The similarities with Dale continue for me in that the Manager seems completely unaware that the poor style of play impacts on the fans in their enjoyment of the spectacle. Post match interviews where Southgate plays the victim is just nonsensical. Football, is about winning not just doing enough to qualify. Pragmatism is fine when we’re playing Spain/Chesterfield but not really cutting it against Slovenia/Oxford City.

Worth noting our co chair “Enjoys the football Jim has us playing”. He must find Shearers punditry bewildering.

A beautiful illustration of how walking football, even with talented players, is dull to watch and how it stifles what talent you have. Probably the worst performance so far in the entire tournament with arguably the most talented group.

Had the takeover not happened I’d have been disappointed by this, but, the context is changed now. It remains to be seen, and time will tell, whether this was a good deal for us or not.

But chase them down with balls to spare. Game on, can’t see us beating India or Aussies though.

Not ideal to read this, hopefully those with digital STs relying on O2 signal won’t have problems getting into the ground …..

I don’t bother trying to use my O2 phone at matches, it doesn’t work in the main stand. Think it actually does need fixing.

Hendo signs New Deal

We are very lucky to have had and held onto a player of the quality of Hendo - great news we can give him another chance to add to his total and for us to thank him for the great times. My personal favourite is his penalty at Millwall - the celebration was just class. Let’s have a few more of those Ian.

Agree - best programme I’ve seen last season and been to quite a few away games. Good to see the standard of literature hasn’t dropped - even though the standard of football has!!

Oh - I wholeheartedly agree, but think it unlikely he’ll lose his seat. The CRINKs will be laughing their heads off at the prospect SKS is our PM.

Ref your final point.

I’m going to renew to give my support to the club. We are lucky to still have one to support. But how much I use the ticket will depend on how the team is set up to play because last season there was no fun at all watching more like a torture. Throw into the mix the high cost of rail travel, and unreliability of the service, it really isn’t an enticing prospect to come up to Dale for a home game.

I really do hope that there is some acknowledgment from the board and manager at the forum that the offer on the pitch was not by any stretch of the imagination entertainment and that there is an appreciation that needs to change. The last forum was to me like suspended reality, people queuing up to praise the manager, praise which was endorsed by the chairman. I hope the new Co chairman has done his homework and can see that change is required.

I suspect many are waiting to see how the season pans out before spending their hard earned and I wouldn’t blame them.

Looks like this didn’t make the “wash up”. Remains to be seen what priority the next government give it.

My fear is that yet again we give a pre-season to a manager who is subsequently relieved of his duties in Dec/Jan. I hope I’m wrong but nothing I’ve seen and heard from McNulty gives any reassurance that he understands it’s a results business. Seeing how Odoh and Kelly and to a lesser extent Campbell have done since leaving indicates the coaching g ethos is part of the problem. Maybe the renewed Team Rochdale spirit, a single training facility will be the change necessary- but until I hear NcNulty say he’ll be judged by results I don’t think much will change.

To build support in the stands the home form has to improve- last season I set off for a match be it against top bottom or mid table opposition- there was was no sense of expectation of what sort of performance we might get. That performance v Oxford City…..

Has to change Jim. Or we have to change Jim.

I attended the Dagenham v Dale match last season, and bought an online ticket and since get regular marketing emails, today it’s a Dagenham v West Ham legends game…..

The sort of thing we need to be doing, they’ve been selling their season tickets for about a month…last chance for early bird is soon…..
