Superb man-management by Martin, he’s got Piröe fit and firing, and he will be all the better for it going forward the rest of this season.
Martin’s doing the same with all the players, motivating them in the right way, with the right methods and giving them opportunities to excel. When everyone is fully fit, we’ve got the makings of quite the team under Martin. |

Agreed, Walt.
Recruitment under Scott has been excellent, all the pieces are there for us to perform really well under Martin, and he’s the perfect manager for our club at this moment, especially after Cooperball. Like a good vegan juice cleanse, so to speak.
He’s got a bit of a task to fit all the pieces together, but they’re there, and we will see the team at its best in time. Getting everyone back matchfit is the necessity now, because we can all clearly see the results that having a bit of time training under Martin has had.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last three games, for sure, and all the games this season have been better than Cooperball. We’ll go through some ups and downs without a doubt, but everything is going in the right direction. Bright, blue skies on the horizon. |

Reality is Brighton saw an intelligent manager who knows how to implement a progressive passing system, and were willing to be patient with him in order to do so.
Same as with us, sorry that really hurts you. You’ve gotten really desperate as a result.
Shame ‘Coops’ only got an offer from the last-placed, dysfunctional club in the second division, eh chap? Lol.

Agreed, Brynmill, hope he slinks off to Nottingham with his idol Cooper, he needs all the support he can get there. Forest fans are already massively disappointed and they haven’t even had to witness a mind-numbing game of Cooperball yet.

He’s getting to know a new squad and league, adding new players, dealing with injuries and illness, and implementing a new playing style and system. It’s going to take some tinkering, flexibility and adapting.
I remember many fans leveling the same criticism towards Potter, and I think he and Brighton are doing just fine. He’s gotten time and patience and the results are there for all to see. Statistically one of the best teams in the PL last season, underdone by poor finishing and bad luck, and now the results are beginning to reflect the true quality of his coaching. In the Champions League places if you need a primer.
For me, Martin is along those same lines, obviously nowhere near as accomplished as a manager, but neither was Potter at his age. That will come with time and patience, there are not many in the game with his intelligence and tactical insight. He fits our club perfectly, I fully support him and I am glad he is our manager, especially after we were turned down by John Eustace of all people. |

Agreed, Catallus, well said.
We absolutely dominated the Hull game - camped out in their half, cut them open several times and had several really good chances go begging, two clear penalties not called, the one on Laird was about as nailed on as could be possible, and Hull could barely get out of their own half, much less muster any attacks. Piröe and Ntcham had a few good chances and were unlucky, Bidwell had a clear look from the edge of the penalty area, even Grimes had some good chances but, well, he is who he is. It was a game that was definitively ours, no other way to put it, and we deserved at least a goal or two based on the performance.
The Millwall match was much the same ball domination and chance creation, although more of an open game between the two teams than the Hull match. Millwall had some decent looks but nothing clear-cut, and we created two gilt-edged chances that Paterson and Obafemi should be finishing every time, their reactions to the misses said it all. Finishing is not really Paterson’s game, so can’t blame him too much other than he’s got to do better, but Obafemi really is an excellent finisher and he knows he’s got to do better. Should’ve slotted it in the bottom left corner, but he went for the right trying to catch the keeper out and it went just wide. He had some really good chances against Luton also, obviously the one at the end but a couple others that he didn’t capitalise on.
Happens to the best finishers, though, and with more gametime and chances those will start going in more often than not. All he needs is one to go into the back of the net and I can see him going on a tear, he is extremely dynamic upfront and an absolute beast physically. I hadn’t seen too much of him before this season, but it’s clear now why Martin and the club shifted Lowe out for him, he’s an exceptional player and talent and pairs really well with Piröe and our ball-playing midfielders. The Luton game was just the beginning, there will be bumps along the way like the first half, but the second half was stunning and we’re clearly heading into the right direction under Martin. |

No one is “delighted” with the results so far, but the performances have been encouraging, especially since Martin actually had a little bit of time to work with the players. They will only get better, most actual Swans fans can see that and are willing to be patient to get to a stronger place in the long run.
Instilling a progressive passing and pressing system built around possession and intricate positional play takes a lot of hard work and time, and it’s been clear to see the difference the past three games. It will only get better as the players learn, develop and understand the system more. The results will follow.
I don’t quite know what to make of the rest, I’ll just point to my posts above. It’s put up or shut up time for you and your fellow troll on here. Best if you followed your boy ‘Coops’ to Forest. |

Yeah, again, no, massive fail as always.
Both clubs operate on a small budget and have spent far less than they have brought in. They recruit very well and then buy good players for much less money than the good players they sell. That is the philosophy we have been replicating for a couple windows now under Scott, who did the same with Brentford, and it has shown. Smart, affordable purchases of young players with talent and potential, then developing them to sell-on and replenish the club with funds, while achieving success on the pitch, is the clear objective, following the Norwich and Brentford models and many others like Brighton. The scale changes with every club, but the underlying philosophy is the same.
Our squad is now well-stocked with an array of sellable assets of our own, after being filled with PL clubs’ loanees for a couple of seasons. The last big sells we had were McBurnie, James and Rodon, around £50m, all given a chance and expertly developed by Potter. Good players, but they’re far from generational talents. Nothing since for us, but a lot of money made for Liverpool and Chelsea. Hiring an intelligent manager who can actually instill the Swansea Way and develop our own players is what the club have now done, same with Potter before, and something they attempted to do with Cooper. He chose another route, negative football, his u17 boys and enriching other clubs at our expense.
The business we are now doing will have much better long-term benefits for the club. I understand that’s not what you want, as you are quite clearly the forum troll and not an actual fan, hence your responses in this thread. Success on the pitch will come with time and patience, and I fully expect us to replicate what Norwich and Brentford have done. The decision-makers leading the club agree, and they will be giving Martin the time and funds to see this plan through no matter how upset that makes you. It’s progressively getting worse with you, and it’s extremely transparent. The club actually paid good money for Martin, something no one was willing to do for Cooper this summer, unfortunately.
This is the reality. Shape up chap, even a broken clock is right twice a day. |
