| News Comment | Bonfire of the vanities – Report at 22:07:04
Agree with every word Clive. Shocking I’ve unfortunately got one other thing to add too. It seems with all of his other failings Celar is also a coward. There was a loose ball just outside the box and Celar and Dieng were equally distanced from it and the keeper obviously wouldn’t be able to use his hands…a great opportunity to at least cause some havoc. Celar completely bottled it and just stopped running as Seny is so much bigger than him. Shameful. That was when I completely lost it and the poor kid a few seats along had to hear some words his dad has spent his young life shielding him from. I despair. We’ll get dry humped by Leeds so the Stoke and Cardiff games are now huge. |
| News Comment | Prestige performance puts QPR back in the hunt - Report at 22:11:01
Great report Clive, thanks as usual. I can’t wait for next Saturday now…surely we can’t balls it up again. And being honest we simply can’t afford to as the run of games after that is a bit scary. I agree Willock was far better, but he has used up any patience I ever had with him now. He almost cost us the points with his awful finishing and again in the first half he let his man run off him three times. Marti clearly came to the touch line to shout at him for the last one of these. He was so much better without the ball in the second half I do wonder if words were exchanged at HT. He is after some kind of big contract move in a few months time…does he really think other clubs aren’t watching and don’t see this rubbish. |
| News Comment | QPR's latest act of stupidity brings curtain down on Ainsworth reign - Report at 17:14:32
Thanks Clive. A spot-on report. I was amazed at the size of the crowd too. I’m gutted for Ainsworth on a personal level, but he has played the very worst style of football I can ever remember, so I’m delighted to see him go. I don’t think our team is a bottom three outfit - but we will see. Also what is the back story with Willock? Clearly they hate each other. Willock has been painful and unprofessional for months, but just maybe a new manager can get him playing again and that could be like a new signing? |
| News Comment | Once more unto the breach - Preview at 19:34:33
I can’t believe that we are going into this game with one senior centre half. Shocking- I feel sorry for Gareth A. I have no idea why I’m going as I’m predicting a 4-1 loss…I just hope that it doesn’t get angry too early this year as this is going to be a struggle. I think Willock and GA don’t get on, and he wants out, but his injury history isn’t helping his sale. The sooner we get something for him the better…then we can pick up a couple of reinforcements Oh how I long for 16th!! |
| News Comment | Everything we’ve come to expect from this team and more - Report at 21:01:27
So so depressing. We are going down. We know we don’t have a quality striker…and the two full backs have turned out to be a false dawn, and a crazy injury list to CHs…but your comment about the midfield is so spot on Clive. Unfortunately Johansen is done, which is heartbreaking as he is a good player who is no longer physically able. Field is great (possibly our player of the season), but Dozzle is utterly utterly useless. He’s never played well and never looked anything other than a boy playing a man’s game. And how we can play two in there against three is just mismanagement. I am usually the most optimistic supporter but I simply can’t be now. The only way we can stay up is if one point in the last game of the season is enough. All football matters at QPR are the responsibility of Les, so he can no longer hide. The squad is paper thin…if he stays we won’t come back up. |

“John Prescott’s lower colon†had me laughing out loud early! Superb report - thanks Clive. What a magnificent day that was and what superb support. I posted on the message board about the crowd earlier yesterday as I was amazed the number of people going after one win in 20. It seems that Gareth A has just got it and already really captured the place. Aaron Drewe was simply magnificent, I loved watching him grow up. And how good is Sam Field. I don’t care about the brand of football being more basic at the moment if it is this much fun! Now just a very tricky week to navigate because if we lose to both Blackpool and Birmingham then we stuck six points into the mix beneath us. However in GA I now have great faith…and so that won’t happen. Life is bloody marvellous again. |
| News Comment | Merry Christmas my R's - Preview at 23:10:52
I look forward to your previews and match reports almost as much as the games Clive, so a huge thank you from me. Your efforts are massively appreciated. I’m sometimes in the Crown, and when I’m there I keep meaning to buy you a Peroni….I must do that in 2023. Happy Christmas and thanks again. By the way the story about Bonne on the podcast this week was very interesting- I was wondering what had happened there?! |
| News Comment | Beale elects to take his ‘loyalty and integrity’ elsewhere after all — Column at 20:17:16
A brilliant piece thanks Clive. Loads of bits and pieces in there I wasn’t aware of. I’m gutted to be honest, and very disappointed in him. Also I know that Rangers play in front of huge crowds very week and are one of the two clubs in Scotland, but why there? For someone who is all about CV building it’s an odd choice. If you come second and don’t win the Scottish cup you’ve failed. What has he got to gain? He could win a treble and still be no better than a host of others before him. He’s from Bromley and his family are currently in the Midlands. Glasgow isn’t glamorous. The whole thing is strange. I’m not vindictive, and I almost never want us to sack managers when others do etc - but I really hope he fails. |
| News Comment | About Friday - Report at 22:38:01
That is one of your best reports in ages Clive. Love it. Thank you. And it perfectly catches the mood of the place and us all….I think we have a team here. I’ve read it twice already! Beale looks like the real deal. His interview where he says that all four full backs have coaching sessions on crosses just proves that this lot will only get better and better. That is what Kakay was finally able to put in such a beautiful cross assisting a goal. I wanted Warbs to stay…but not now, I’ve been converted to a massive Mike Beale fan. |

Thanks Clive. Really interesting. Reading this it becomes even clearer why Warbs’ contract wasn’t renewed. I’m sure MB hasn’t been told to play the youth if they aren’t first team standard, but very obviously he has to find out - plus may well be the man to mild them anyway. Also I like the fact that at least another two are coming in and I assume that one of those will be a right back. |
| News Comment | Second half slump incurs Warbs’ wrath — Report at 17:24:45
Excellent report as always, thanks Clive…but deeply depressing. We are going to throw away the last 12 months of solid improvement by the looks of it. I did wonder if the team spirit had started to wane. I simply can’t see us winning away at Luton next week unless Johansen comes back and is on fire. |
| News Comment | Willock brilliance brings QPR home on the road again - Report at 17:24:39
Great report as always thanks Clive. I wasn’t at Brum so watched on the stream, which I know is always different to actually being there, but to me one of the big problems with our performance was having two up front. With our back three/five that just doesn’t work for me. Especially as Gray just doesn’t look fit. Even with Birmingham being awful we still looked outnumbered in midfield because of just having two strikers hanging around up top waiting for service! Taking a striker off and adding Johansen as another body in midfield in the second half massively changed the game. |

Completely agree Clive - however Amos had such a massive effect on Uncle getting into the game more because he had such a dynamic effect in midfield, and therefore the service. As you say Amos was magnificent. |

Really interesting, thanks Clive. I’m so encouraged by all of this. In that mad Premier League era the only way we could get ‘experienced’ journeyman players to join us was by offering wages above average…for players that were at best average. It is the complete opposite now. I even think that were we to go up we would be far more sensible with the cash. |

Magnificent Clive. Love it. Thank you. I couldn’t make Saturday so watched on all sorts of devices and channels…I still can’t believe that this was the Superhoops looking this good! Covid has f*cked my career in travel, so I’m unemployed and broke…but have renewed my season ticket anyway, and simply cannot wait for Millwall on Sat week. We’ve all sat through the rubbish, both in that final Prem season and everything since - maybe this is the season that it all turns around. Your writing has massively helped through the last 18 months Clive. Thank you. I am going to shout and scream like a kid at Loftus Rd in two weeks time…just as Millwall idiots fight each other and rip the seats out!?! |
| News Comment | Austin comes home - Signing at 20:29:16
Brilliant piece Clive. Thanks. I am genuinely excited for next season now. I renewed my season ticket last week...and now simply can’t wait to get back in. Could it be that he has accepted £15k a week because we’ve given him a big signing on fee? He was ‘free’ after all. Maybe the £1million budget for a signing of this type has gone straight to Charlie but actually the wages aren’t over the top? That is what worries me about Johansen as we are going to have to pay for him?!! |
