And breathe... - Simon Dorset's annual deep dive into the accounts
at 17:21 27 Feb 2025

Simon/Clive, do we have any insight as to which of these 3 areas were identified as accounting opportunities by the Retexo audit and which were already planned by the previous management team? Also how we amortise spend and report depreciation can be a big factor in smart accounting, again has this approach changed since the Retexo audit? Sounds like Nourry has executed the plan pre/post January, but would be interesting to know if we're now seeing early stage output from the Retexo work?

I've voiced a big concern about Nourry before and it remains, I don't think he's the second coming he seems to think he is, but happy to be proven wrong, we'll find out for sure in about 3 years if he's the real deal, but potentially a good first step

Cheers I didn’t realise, if he was/is a key driver of the improvement, fair play to him.

I think Nourry only joined in January 24, so a stretch to credit him with any of the progress shown in these accounts

For me he's done enough to justify an extension being offered, on the best terms we can offer within the salary structure I assume we have. I'd imagine at 31 he knows he won't get what he gets now, so if he accepts our best offer, great, but if he wants more and can get it elsewhere, good luck to him. Same with Dunne...make your best offer and then its up to the player.

Dunne off?
at 15:22 3 Feb 2025

Agree with most of that, we believe he loves the club, but ultimately only the club know if he wants to stay and perhaps this is just about length of contract, as was suggested, but comparing to Madsen isn't a fair one, who is clearly our biggest mistake for a few years, we should compare to the renewals for Chair, Kolli, Morgan, Lloyds, but we don't know the details. Perhaps the club took a hard line on 3 years with them, if so, it won't go well if they break that for Dunne.

I just hope the club have made him their best offer possible, then its over to him, if Sheff Utd will pay enough and still want him.

Dunne off?

I agree with this, I also wonder if they're trying to land him for buttons as a short term fix, and if they don't get him for £500k for example they'll go elsewhere for a longer term option...Tanganga for example, he can play CB or RB, he's young and has the potential to play in the Prem. Would be a lot more than JD, but they have the money.

Dunne off?

This is all about Dunne, if he wants to stay, that's great, sign, if not, sell him for as much as we can and include first refusal on a loan at capped wages, as you can be sure that if they go up, he won't feature, so he can come back if we needed him.

Will be a shame to see him go, but a simple decision of sign or sell

New Year transfer window rumours
at 09:39 29 Jan 2025

I really hope the belief in Larkeche is right, and he can compete for a start next season...but I'd say he needed a long winter in Scotland to forget his traumas of the 4-0 defeat to Blackburn last year

Cheers for the report, its an interesting read.

Appears to be a strange character in my opinion, who deals in half-truths, and for all the reasons I've said before I don't trust him, but hopefully he's learning fast.

Given the reference to Kolli, I'd assume we'll see an extension for him announced very soon.

Also wonder if the Ashby deal includes an affordable buy option that they expected to take, whether that's still the case based on his performances I don't know.

Dyches sacked
at 09:12 10 Jan 2025

Given the bottom 3, Moyes surely won’t have to work too hard to keep them up.

My guess is that Dyche will be in charge of Watford in the coming weeks, played there and Cleverley must be on the ropes given their history

Your best and worst ever QPR moment witnessed as a fan and as an armchair fan !!

Best Live....Forest or Sheff Wed at the end of 92/93 - top team in London that season
Worst Live - Cardiff play off final

Best TV - Man Utd 4-1 - sat watching with United fans....unlikely to happen again
Worst TV - Liverpool 0-1 in Nov 92 - we smashed them that day and then Ronnie Rosenthal scored in the last minute...couldn't believe it

Where are the "Nourry out" comments now ???
at 10:46 23 Dec 2024

Fair question....I'd like to see/hear the strategy he has for the club, the 10 year vision, what are the key pillars to delivering that vision and strategy. I'd assume those centre around player development, given our investment into the training ground, player recruitment and business operations, so what are the the key objectives for these areas, what are the timelines and how they all piece together to deliver a cohesive plan to move the club back on to a successful path. I would expect this to be initially shared at the fans forum and then provide ongoing progress updates at the forums, I believe there should be 3 per season, at the start, middle and end of season. I'd expect to hear from him, the heads of operations, development and recruitment, as well as the first team manager at these forums. I'd then expect forums to allow for fans to have the freedom to ask unvetted questions to this panel, I'd like him to engage with the leading fan groups on a regular basis to get feedback and share relevant updates.

Your point about the owners/Hoos/investors/shareholders, as a CEO, his role is to manage them and engage them, take their feedback to enhance/amend his plan as needed, but ultimately he knows and they know, the responsibility for delivery of the strategy and meeting performance targets sit solely with the CEO, he/she is then measured on that.

The performance of the 10 players signed in the summer is a peripheral point.

I'm sure I've missed many relevant points, but in the 10mins I've had to think about your question, this is what would make me revise my opinion, and I'd love that to happen.

Whilst he’s the self appointed head of recruitment, there is a lot more to being a CEO than signings, this club, despite a short run of wins and draws, is clearly not in a good place, we need and should expect better than a dishonest 27 year old with zero experience.

Nardi, Morrison and Varane are doing well, it doesn’t make him a good CEO.

MC has found a way to win despite Nourry not because of him, Nourry is and always will be a huge issue in my opinion and should go, for all the reasons written before. Surely no one believes just 4 wins and 3 draws change that…but we can enjoy it the run.

Another Injury Update
at 18:48 10 Dec 2024

I'm inclined to agree with this, however my cynical side is also questioning whether we'd have got these updates if we didn't have so many injuries, as its needed to provide an excuse and claim they were all unavoidable, as they said in the first update. I suspect that if we just had a couple of injuries like everyone else, we probably wouldn't have heard anything and if Frey and Celar were still fit, Kolli may still be out of the picture.

I can't believe Nourry has had a change of heart, either he's covering his arse or he's been told to do it from above.

Putting questionable communication, signings and organisational structure to one side, his career history, or lack of it is very well documented. He is the figurehead for how this club is run. Anyone who thinks 2 draws and 2 wins make this all ok, must be balls deep in Christmas spirit. Not sure why we need another thread on this, the guy is a charlatan and I want him out, regardless of results.

Great result, huge win, drags Plymouth etc right back into it and bouncebackability from Celar, fair play, next few weeks for him will be really interesting.
