I will always remember David Pleat when he was co-commentating on a West Ham game when the fans had turned on manager Alan Pardew wanting him sacked. Pleat said āWhen the fans chant sack the manager, the board donāt worry - but when the fans chant sack the board, they sack the manager!ā Very astute observation by Mr. Pleat, so, if you want the board to act, David Pleat would advise you to cut out the middle man and go straight to the top with a sack the board banner. š |

Bunch of absolute morons - I have now merged what most VAR officials are with the acronym itself so I now call them Vunts. Wholly appropriate in this instance. PGMOL you can stick your apology up your collective backsides. |

And they would have been in last seasonās Cup Final as well. Should have been anyway had it not been for a ludicrous VAR decision near the end of the S/F against Man Ure |

Thanks Nick, an interesting read - those bikers should have followed that frightened 10 y/o to Fratton Park, theyād have probably found the scrap they were looking for. I wonder what the 10y/o would have done if heād encountered Westwood on his first visit to Fratton Park? Probably ended up supporting Brighton š [Post edited 16 Oct 17:28]

Iād be inclined to medically retire him and claim on the insurance - as far as I know all players are insured against such an eventuality. The fact we signed him injured should not matter because months ago the club went out of their way to assure all of us that he had fully recovered from the injury he arrived with and the subsequent injuries are unrelated. Whilst I have a degree of sympathy for his plight, in terms of making any meaningful contribution heās about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. So, Iād say letās get it done and dusted and move on. |

Agreed, nice little ground - the League I was involved with for many years used Chertsey as one of our Cup Final venues quite a few times along with Ashford Town Mx, Walton & Hersham and Hampton FC (now Hampton & Richmond Borough). Alan Simpson, of Galton & Simpson fame, used to be a regular at Hampton, had his own special seat at the club bar and used to sweep into the car park in his maroon two door Rolls Royce Corniche. Ended up as club President. Checked out the fixtures and Chertsey are at home to Sutton in the FA Cup 4th Qual round on Saturday so thatās me sorted for a local game to go to. |

Went to see Peter Kay at the O2 last night with my daughter on VIP tickets, PK superb as ever, lots of new material and about a dozen new misheard lyrics near the end. Finishes the show suspended in mid-air below 20 huge balloons playing his three shovel guitar as he floats off down the O2 and back again. The O2 can teach SFC a few tricks with the drinks prices - 440ml cans of Thatchers blood orange cider at Ā£8.50 a pop š® Will see if Ashford Town (Middx) are at home on Saturday or if not Iāll just try Chertsey or Windsor - one of them will b at homeā¦ |

| Forum Thread | Saints hierarchy split over RMās future at 22:09 2 Oct 2024
If it is to be believed, the article below has surfaced in the last few hours in the Express and the Mirror online editions. It appears Dragan Solak is ready to pull the trigger but the oaf Ankersen is still supporting RM. Sounds like Solak is almost as fed up with Ankersen as he is with Martin. I honestly donāt think it would be bad for SFC if Solak pulled the plug on Ankersen as I feel he has done far more harm than good to our Club since he walked through the door. The article reads as follows: Russell Martin's position as Southampton manager is increasingly under threat following the club's dismal start to the season. Despite leading the Saints to promotion via the Championship play-offs last season, the 38-year-old now finds his team languishing in the Premier League relegation zone, having failed to secure a win in their first six matches. With just one point ahead of this weekend's clash with title contenders Arsenal, another poor result could push Martin closer to the exit during the upcoming international break. While Martin has some credit for last season's promotion, scrutiny is mounting. Saints owner Dragan Solak is reportedly unimpressed with the results, putting Martin in a precarious situation. As reported by talkSPORT, there is division among the top brass at St Mary's over Martin. While Solak is concerned about the results, sporting director Rasmus Ankerson, who brought Martin in as head coach last summer, still supports him. However, it's suggested that Ankerson himself is also under scrutiny from Solak, who took over the club in January 2022. Southampton are currently the lowest-scoring team in the Premier League, having netted just three goals in six games. In contrast, Arsenal have scored 12 goals in the same number of matches and remain undefeated as they pursue their first title in over two decades. |
| Forum Reply | Potter as head coach and Llallana as his assistant at 16:50 2 Oct 2024
Gents, in the best traditions of many a football committee meeting - point of order Mr. Chairman: - Hollywood 56 was only making a suggestion - Potter always taking his assistant Billy Reid with him as part of the package is indeed true. So, may I propose an amendment to the original suggestion; most managers have a small team around them not just one assistant (as indeed has RM who shipped in more than one other member of the Swansea back room team on arrival) so, my proposed amendment to the original suggestion is Potter & No 2 Reid with Lallana also on board as part of the new coaching team. Hopefully this addresses the issues satisfactorily. |
