| Forum Reply | Were Burnley better or worse than us in the Prem? at 11:49 10 May 2015
Burnley started off badly, being the last professional club in England to win a league game (that was November). They haven't been higher than 17th all season and have 10 points less than we achieved with 2 games remaining. We were better. Not that it didus any good of course. |

I may be wrong but I don't think chairs of associate member clubs can serve on the league board. |

It's the same mentality that causes 300,000 people to sign a petition to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson when they know nothing about the incident that lead to his suspension. |

Breaking news - Ruby Walsh isn't riding in the big race. He said if he could be on any horse it would be Dodging Bullets, and having ridden him in that race at Ascot he thinks Sprinter Sacre is "past it". |
| Forum Thread | Cheltenham Festival at 15:00 11 Mar 2015
Messrs Mullins and Walsh had a wonderful day yesterday, and it could have been even better had not Annie Power fallen at the last when cruising to victory in the 4:00. I always thought that horses only fell over hurdles if they were duffers, had a duff jockey or were hampered. Annie Power is a class act, Ruby Walsh is the most successful jockey ever at the Cheltenham festival according to Channel 4, and the horse was clear in front. In the paper this morning it said that bookies would have lost £100 million had Annie Power won. Hmmm. Willie Mullins trained the winner of the second race today, Ruby's had a third and two also rans in the first three races so not quite as strong as day 1. Paul Nichols trained the 9-1 winner of the third race today and has Dodging Bullets (who beat Sprinter Sacre last time out) in the big race coming up. Would be a brilliant double for him, but Sprinter Sacre looks a different beast that came in second at Ascot, could well be back to his best. |
| Forum Reply | Holloway just sacked at 16:59 10 Mar 2015
Apart from with us Mr. Holloway's managerial record is nothing startling. Some players never reproduce the great form they showed at one particular place, and the same can be said of managers. Our current predicament started when Ollie left so dramatically, as Wizz says, we've both been on a downward slide ever since. I'll second Plumbs' motion for a statue - best trip and all. |

A new club has been created and has managed to win a lease on Edgar Street for five years so can apply to join a league from next season, starting from the bottom. Not sure what the bottom will mean for them, perhaps the North Gloucestershire League (which is level 14 in the pyramid) offers the quickest route back up to whatever their natural level is. Good luck to them and their supporters, who were screwed by a succession of owners whose interest seemed to be anything but football. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-31610611 |

He made his debut for Crewe on Saturday, coming on as a sub. Managed to score an OG. Feel a bit sorry for the guy, he clearly had something at one point in his career, but the loss of confidence - spurred on by his horrendous night against us at Elland Road - seems to have stopped him from delivering. Crewe is his 17th club (and you're only allowed 13 in the bag). |

If we sacked him he could go and do as he pleased. By keeping his registration it ensures he can't play football anywhere. It's not as if we're paying him anything, and I suspect he owes the O's fine money. |

Plumbs, keepnets are so fansonline darling. However if I had one I think your last post would warrant you being in it. |
| Forum Reply | Birmingham City at 11:15 18 Feb 2015
Like Plumbs said, when the Saints' owners went marching into liquidation they said that it wouldn't affect the football club, but the FL begged to differ and docked them the 10 points. I'm not sure but wasn't one of Pompey's financial meltdowns the same? Memory might be playing tricks with that one. It's about time Leeds were docked another 10 points for being Leeds. |

Thanks for pointing out that feature Odins, it's good that there's no anonimity with that feature. Isn't it strange that players who played poorly for us (albeit at a much higher standard) and were criticised for it are now held as beacons for the opposition. |

Love the optimism Ossie, but Bournemouth showed that they could play a lot better than we can well on our disgrace of a pitch. The o/p is probably right, 'Boro will make us look silly tomorrow. Again. |

Free speech as long as you don't make accusations which you can't prove, which is quite reasonable. T'internet plays host to many people who spout off before thinking and believe they are anonymous in doing so. It must be a nightmare for businesses like messageboards to keep track of all posts and make sure they stay within the laws of the land. Sadly when they can't fully manage this they become prey to unscrupulous people like the owners of our club. Yet another sad day. |

Ossie, he left Spurs (or they sacked him 'cos he didn't have his mind on the job and he wasn't too bothered about it) because he thought he was nailed on for the England job, with all the backing of his meeja friends. I think that when he didn't get it (thankfully) he got disillusioned about it all and became rent-a-bloke darn sarf and ended up at QPR. Reading the Evening Standard on Monday evening there was a long piece about the approval given for the Old Oak Common development north of Shepherds Bush which includes, inter alia, a 40,000 seat stadium for QPR. Planning permission granted by fat boy Pickles over the heads of local objectors who will have to add an extra five minutes to their journey every week to see their loved ones in Wormwood Scrubs. If they finally move out of the current cramped anachronism that is Loftus Road and flog it for the megabucks that land in that part of London commands they could become serious players in the Prem over time. Fernandes knew what he was doing when he relieved Briatore of the club. Edit: sorry, he relieved Bernie Ecclestone of the majority shareholding, not Briatore. I'll try to do better in future. Bernie wouldn't notice the relatively small sums (to him) that the windfall sale of Loftus Road would bring, so no doubt he's not bothered. [Post edited 4 Feb 2015 12:05]

Had to resign because of the need for an imminent knee operation would prevent him from doing his job. Yeah Harry, right. Without resort to the cheque book Mr. Redknapp has had to rely on his skills as a coach and motivator this season. Result? 19 points from 12 home games and 0 points from 11 away games and 21st in the league. I'll admit here that I never liked Mr. Redknapp as a player or as a coach, but I hope he recovers quickly from his operation and has a long and healthy retirement from the game. The downside is he'll probably be snapped up as an analyst by some broadcaster (hopefully not a free terrestrial one) so will be spouting rubbish on TV for some years to come. |

I'm with nil on this one, it's the R&A to blame, not the BBC. There will still be a highlights programme, although I agree that's scant compensation for watching the final day unfold. |
