| Your Report | AFC Bournemouth v Southampton Your Report added at 23:05:47 Absolute 5h1t show. 5 strikers on the bench, 0 in the starting line up. Shambles of a selection and dire tactics. More often than not attacking players received the ball with backs to goal and passed it back, throw ins in the final 3rd went back to our own centre backs, little desire to get forward and be an attacking threat, kept giving the ball away. I have lost faith in RM tonight, that selection shows he's run out of ideas. Lallana looked our best player and he only got 20 mins. KWP still benched. I would have even liked to see Tall Paul given a run and launch the ball towards their box, surely even that would have been more exciting than the dross I watched. |
| Your Report | Ipswich Town v Southampton Your Report added at 01:17:27 Have no idea what Jack Stephens' role was tonight. He didn't appear to have a position, popping up absolutely everywhere with little effect most of the time which just meant we were short defensively when possession was lost. Completely baffled why we didn't have a left back all game and we also went without a right back for the last 12 minutes whilst KWP and Manning sat on the bench. Can't see us going up via playoffs if Leicester are in them too. |
| Your Report | Liverpool v Southampton Your Report added at 22:19:03 Wrong substitutions ruined it, we were in the game for the first hour and dare I say it, the more dominant side. Thought Shea Charles was excellent, Edozie too. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Shrewsbury Town Your Report added at 22:57:39 We did what we had to do with no dramas. A few players got a rest, a few academy prospects got a run out and valuable experience. The team controlled the game without really breaking a sweat. Job done. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:30:41 I thought the Watford game was excellent attacking football, this game was 100% solid defending. Every player was fantastic. They defended as though it was the last day of the season and we needed 3 points to stay up. So proud. JWP was incredible in his effort and leadership (not sure what game you watched I_would), Ings was absolutely everywhere getting stuck in, toss up for MotM for me between KWP, Stephens, Romeu or McCarthy. This was the proudest performance I have seen since we beat Inter Milan. Chuffed to bits that Che got off the mark by exploiting the sweeper-keeper system. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:55:30 I thought Hoibjerg had an absolute shocker. He looked like he was playing "the ball is lava". Too quick to give it to someone else and gave away possession far too much. How on earth we'll get £35m for him I have no idea and more so how deluded is he to think he's a top 6 quality player? I'd drop him and play Smallbone for the rest of the season. Obafemi was ineffective, Valery looked out of his depth which is a shame because I rate him. I'd have liked to see Tella on earlier, he looked hungry, as did Boufal. Great 3 points, great GOALS, great captains performance by JWP. and so pleased to finally see the Saints back on the pitch. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:24:39 I said weeks ago, give Charlie a start. He knows where the goal is! Great game and glad to see Hojbjerg recover from his error that nearly led to an Everton opener on 15 minutes to give the best performance I have seen him give. He and Charlie MUST start in the week. Feeling optimistic today about our chances of 4 points in the next 7 days. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:04:16 For me it was very obvious that there are players lacking confidence (Fraser & Redmond the obvious 2), and also 2 sets of fans both out there and on here. Those who recognise this and shout out encouragement, and those who think they are going to improve by telling them how poor they are. I was encouraged by the first half, excellent possession, good chances snuffed out by Pope who I thought was there for the taking. Unfortunately the second half did not follow the first and from the 55-80 minutes nothing happened. I feel like the tactics don't fit the team selection. Gabbi didn't attack any headers and instead focussed on getting under defenders hoping they would make a mistake. Charlie looked eager and fought for every ball, it was only the last 10 minutes when VVD went up front we looked like we might be useful in the air. I miss the attacking, high pressing we had under MoPo. Finally on VVD, clearly frustrated at the end and during the game but total respect for him after the game, signed autographs for all the waiting kids, posed for pictures and was the model professional. Hopefully we will see a change of fortunes soon, but one thing is for sure, the team needs support not berating. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:26:12 Pleased to see 2 goals but we are not a side anywhere near as threatening as we were under RK. Defending too deep and trying to carefully pass our way forwards instead of using pace and urgency like we used to. Gives opposing sides plenty of time to regroup and prepare. Thought Mario was excellent as was Boufal when he came on. Virgil seems disinterested and hope the rumours about Barcelona are true. Romeo was unusually off his game today. Playing 2 strikers works, keep on with it please MP. Would like to see young Sam McQueen get some appearances. Has pace, strength, urgency and can cross a ball. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:59:10 Firstly, to be in the middle 32,814 Saints fans singing loud and proud was an honour and a memory my wife, daughter and I will cherish forever. So disappointed with the result and the terrible officiating for the opening goal, we were winning for 2 seconds. Also disappointed with Oriol's tackle that conceded the free kick, gutted the post stopped him making amends in the final minutes. That said, every one of the first eleven worked their nuts off and should be very proud of what was achieved, even if it wasn't all we wanted. Forster, did ok but not the as fast as last season. Yoshi, worked hard but hesitant to move forwards like VVD does. Jack Stephens appears to have gone unnoticed, I watched his play off the ball, spacially aware and organising the back four. Many have doubts, I have none, that's a future England CB there so long as a "big" club doesn't sign him and waste his potential (whatever happened to Chambers, Shaw, Schneiderlin). The full backs worked tirelessly and we're a handful all day. Oriol faught hard and was a rock, Steven ran his socks off but is too short to be in a wall, JWP I have been a fan of for years, like Beckham, this lad can land a 40yd cross on a 20p piece, Redmond tirelessly running but why must he shoot 4 yds wide whenever he is just outside the box, more dangerous inside it, Tadic trickery outshone United's and Gabbi is close to fast becoming my daughter's favourite player, Charlie Austin watch out. As for the subs, Boufal is trying to be Ronaldo but he ain't, need some gym time, Long came close but perhaps should have come on 10 minutes earlier, JayRod didn't have time to make an impact as all the time wasting at the end. It must have got windy after the goal, their players kept getting blown over. Anyway, enough waffle, thanks to all the players and staff for making this experience possible and all the fans for winning the battle on the stands, their lot only started singing in the train station on the way home and they only had 1 bloody song. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:52:42 For me despite a disappointing result, the team tried, albeit too deep. We play much better when we press higher up the pitch. Gabbi looked exciting and worked hard. The worst part for me, (and here come all the negative votes) was the crowd. Never in my life have I felt like an away fan at home. Every time I go to watch Saints the crowd is singing. Today was like a library. West ham fans sang when the saints go marching in more than our own. In fact it was the 64th minute by the time it began to be heard by our own. The West Ham fans dominated the stadium with their 95 minutes of singing, it is no wonder our guys didn't perform so well without our 12th man . |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 00:36:18 I thought we played well generally but were let down by some sloppy passing, Tadic had a very off game, Fonte looked slow, VVD was solid, we created chances but lacked clinical finishing. It was a good effort but an obvious gulf in quality despite Man U never looking to be on top form |
