| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:44:17 Two up front? Gabbiadini starting? Team winning by more than one goal? A win, not a draw? Manager actually engaged in the game, shouting directions, making tactical changes, talking to, and encouraging his players on the field after the game? Was I watching the Saints? Or is this some kind of alternate universe, you know, where Mr. Spock has a beard?? Whatever it is, lets have more of it! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 02:22:07 Agree with all. Shane Long great work rate, but Arsenal may put in a bid for him as the perfect replacement for Bendtner! Puel has kept one part of Koeman's system: When trailing by a goal, make sure to take off your creative players and bring in Ward-Prowse to take the corners and then kick them to the other corner. Yes officials were bad, but we were never going to get the calls against a team higher in the officials pecking order list. Missed Wanyama and Pelle's muscle against a team that is full of weak and small players. And off course Mane and Lallana scored to add salt to our wounds. Save it for the tequila, it's going to be a long season! Even if the new bloke we are developing for the Scouse turns out to be any good. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 00:31:01 Lucky we were playing Newcastle. Usual loads of opportunities, but don't convert them. Players going for goal when they should pass to a man in better position-are they being greedy, trying to hit incentives in their contract? Or are they trying too hard to be the hero? Tadic always better on the left -where he was and then got put here there and everywhere and people wonder why his production went down. VvD is consistently one of the players of the match, hope other teams don't notice. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:01:06 We were lax in the first half, they were lax in the second. Long should have had a penalty in the first (you are never going to get it against a "bigger" club). Ref must have saw the replay at halftime and gave us the penalty to even up (both players were tugging shirts). Too bad Mane got stopped but he made up for it in the end. Big difference was Mane and Big Vic coming on. You have to have a big tough enforcer in the middle to scare teams like this bunch, ManCity, Arsenal, etc who run and hide if you stand up to them, and a striker who can pounce on a ball and score in a flash. Forallsaints-Klopp may have clapped at the end, but in his post match interview he basically said his players were so used to beating Saints, that they got complacent in the second half and Saints played "good". Anyway, best win of the season for me, just because of who it was against. They thought they had it in the bag so it hurts even more to lose this way. It showed them up for the bunch of bullies with no backbone they are! Bonus: Koeman jumping around like Klopp- "Would you like some more salt for your wound, sir?" |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:08:23 I have been ranting since the summer to get Austin in specifically for this- he is the type of player that gets that last minute goal that breaks teams hearts! Ron must be delighted-he may have just got Van Gaal sacked. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 02:12:34 Same old, same old. Look at the teams that are beating us: they work all game long, and score when they get the chance. We are just happy to have a knock-about in the park. Show Vic the door, his "head is at Arsenal" already. I used to say Shane Long in front of goal was a coin toss: fifty-fifty chance of him scoring-now it is more like a Dungeons & Dragons polyhedral dice toss! Yep, fine Mane (or others who break rules) but don't cut off your nose to spite your face. We can't get a proper read on Gaston until he starts a few games-throwing him on with a few minutes is not fair-if Yoshi can get game after game no matter what, why not Gaston? |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:46:58 Yeah, first thing I noted-would it kill Morgan to be happy he scored? (Although that first one looked like Pelle got his head to it) I mean, OK he's mad at the club, but the players are his teammates, most of whom he's marched up the leagues with! If nothing else, the more goals, the more money he'll make when he goes to a team with "ambition"- you know, like Sunderland! Anyway: Beat Sam for a change. Their only goal was a deflection. Pelle hopefully on a roll. Gaston got some playing time. Three important points in the bag. Well done! Only minor quibble-when the ball comes out of the box, fire it back in! It seems, like last year, that Saints hold it, and allow the opposition to set themselves up. Keep the pressure on them-they'll make mistakes! |

| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 00:43:27 Much like the past couple of years: playing to level of the opposition. Pelle needs to learn he's not going to have much time to move the ball. Forster really good-calm, grabs the ball and holds on rather than just knocking it down, puts his foot through it when needed. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 01:34:26 Right you are harrapuk. I'm of two minds: The calm one: Well, on paper we knew this was going to be hard ask to win or maybe draw the way Spurs and particularly Bale (where would they be without him?) are playing. When he was kicked in the box, it should have been a penalty so maybe the late goal was justice. The one watching the game: Ok, a draw is good. Maybe we don't want to score too early and wake them up. Punch-Drunk coming on??-We could lose this now. MP changing a line up that was hanging in and getting chances--didn't NA get sacked for that? Will someone just trip Bale up? He's outside the box-GOAL! AGGH! Sort of knew that was going to happen. Why do I have to spend the last month of every season screaming "JUST WIN ONE GAME! JUST ONE! PLEASE!" ? |
