| News Comment | Jack Stephens Deserves Saints Fans Respect At This Time at 13:15:13
Always thought Stephens was a donkey. His reaction comes as no surprise as I'm always watching him get lucky with off the ball incidents. Absolute hot head who should never speak to the ref (directly) in that way. Colburn; does 14 years of Tories make them good also? He was loaned to Bournemouth's bench and that's saying something. |
| News Comment | Saints Announce New Season Ticket Details- Good For Some A Kick In The Teeth For Others at 11:00:15
I sit Kingsland North and it does my head in when I see a lot of the Northam not getting involved in songs as I think those seats should be for the more 'expressive' passionate fans. It's hard to create an atmosphere because everything is disjointed and quite frankly embarrassing as seen Tuesday when we are chasing promotion, winning 3:0 and still struggling for an atmosphere throughout most of the game. Once the away fans move, the Itchen North will move into the Northam and I think the atmosphere will be electric or at least better. Not bothered by the inconvenience to those who are forced to move due to the away fans moving as I didn't see anyone stand or clap when we all started 'stand up if you love the saints'. This team needs atmosphere not people who can't be arsed to stand and clap for one minute. UTS |
| News Comment | Preston Could Be Five Men Down For Southampton Clash at 10:06:54
Wouldn't go all out attacking against these as they seemed to be a counter attacking team against Millwall. Too many times we've seen quick players leave our fall backs in the dust and score from their first shot let alone shot on goal. Play it safe I reckon but would love to see us spank someone. Just don't think it will be PNE tomorrow. |
| News Comment | Southampton at Hull City The Verdict at 09:32:29
Good scrappy championship game. Why Stu Armstrong started doing keepy ups in the 6 yard box I'll never know but happy with the 3 points. Staying on Stu, I thought he played for too long and maybe should have kept Salumana on, instead bringing fraser or edozie on for Stu. He just looked knackered by the 70th. Worked out in the end tho so not going to complain too much just felt that we could have put the game to bed earlier than the 95th minute. UTS and onto Preston who looked like a counter attacking team against Millwall. Think that type of team is our worst nightmare at the moment. |
| News Comment | Southampton Defensive Issues Sorted It's The Finishing That Is The Issue Now at 09:56:23
Centurion - What exactly are you waiting for then? Any championship side that gets promoted then changes their team through transfers. So you're waiting for a better championship side (which will be without Che Adams, Alcarez, Salumena and anyone who is too good for this league) to then be promoted and transfer a load of players in anyway. We need promotion this season or we'll become a mid table championship club in my eyes. |
| News Comment | Southampton Midfielder Shocked By Fans Booing At St Mary's at 12:14:23
Centurion - You would rather wait 2 or 3 seasons for it to gel? I would rather not be below Bournemouth next season and I couldn't think of anything worse than the risk of losing to Pompey anytime soon which looks very possible if we stay put and they come up. Back to Prem ASAP and then sort it all out . Don't agree with the booing either btw but people are frustrated. Don't see players kicking off with fans leaving 5 minutes early which is just a silent boo in my opinion |
| News Comment | Manning V Perraud Who Is The Better Left Back at 12:09:23
Simple one really. Perraud is miles clear. Mannings defending every time I have watched him has been shocking bar the Rotherham game. I would rather the potential for a goal outlet in Perraud than Manning who struggles to do both. Perraud was average in the Prem and Mannings is below average in the championship, quite easy to compare. |
| News Comment | Will Russell Martin Be The 7th Manager In A Row Hounded Out Of Southampton at 16:43:06
Can't comment this season as I've been on holiday (THANK FU*K) since our battering from Sunderland. I remember believing in Ralph until that spanking from Newcastle but ever since then I've been quick to jump down the managers throat. Starting to wonder if, as a club, we can argue that we're a premier league side at the moment. Lot of teams with huge history like Sheffield must be looking at our one FA Cup and wondering what we're complaining about. Want to be positive but finding it frustrating. What' people's thoughts? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Sunderland The (Damning) Verdict at 11:48:27
Onetowatch - A player that jogs back when they're counter attacking played well? His job is DEFENDING. And he didn't try to push the team up, he would do one-twos with Stu Armstrong and Mara then play back. A couple glimpses of attacking threat meant nothing. He's a class player and arguably our best but that game was his worst I've seen. Don't take it as I'm focusing on him, because everyone was shocking and most in this thread have mentioned it. Just shocked to see him, especially being one of our best current players, getting a free ride. By the time any of his attacking runs were made we were 3 or 4 down. If holgate had scored that long shot does that mean he had a good game because he was the only player to score? No, defending is their job and they didn't do their job at all. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Sunderland The (Damning) Verdict at 11:09:21
Not going to repeat what everyone else is saying as I think it's unanimous. But KWp was terrible this game. No overlapping, no sprinting back. Yeah he did well to beat defenders and get the ball in the area towards the end but his job is defending. Smallbone and Downes had awful games, Stu Armstrong was just running side to side it seemed. Awful watch and a good kick up the ass for our entire club. Like Nick has said however, we're 3 points behind the league leaders and I'm glad this has happened early into the season. We've been found out and now we must adapt. Next 3 games will show us our actual level of quality in the squad. |
| News Comment | Southampton Transfer Deadline Day News at 14:28:39
Just seen that we have enquired about west hams young fall back, could this mean KWP could be leaving or are we finally replacing Tino with good quality. |
| News Comment | Southampton Land First Signing Of Transfer Deadline Day at 14:23:52
Don't want to speak too early but I'm impressed with this transfer window and the way we have managed transfers in and out. Just read that Salumena has 30 mil price tag and judging by the way the JWP and Lavia transfers unfolded, SR look to be standing firm on their values. Defence seems to be sorted so let's focus on a winger and a back up for Armstrong and Mara. |
| News Comment | Sunderland Striker In Saints Radar But There Is A Strange Twist at 13:07:13
If it's so easy and 'money talks', why are we struggling to persuade our own striker to stay? Clearly prem strikers don't want to relegate themselves. We should have beaten Leeds to Piroe or done some proper scouting in the top 5 leagues, not the Belgium and Swiss league. Fed up of seeing Southampton linked with awful league strikers but maybe that's our level at the moment. |
| News Comment | Brighton Striker Linked With Move To Southampton at 11:16:11
Yeah Mara above this new fella all day long. Think tall Paul has taught us that scoring goals in other leagues that aren't top 5 means nothing. And Zequiri is not even doing that... 11 goals out of 30 games in the Swiss league is Pompey level. Keep Adams and if he goes, start giving Mara a chance to save Armstrong from injury. |
