HARRY!!!!! MACKIE IS NOT A STRIKER! on 17:48 - Feb 9 by Jamie | The irony is that we're slating the only player at our club who might get a game at the team who have just smashed us and are 9-1 up on aggregate. |
Mackie get in the Swansea team! Do me a favour, he shouldn't even be in ours.

18 months ago people weren't bothered when Routledge went there instead...

HARRY!!!!! MACKIE IS NOT A STRIKER! on 17:51 - Feb 9 by Jamie | Who else would? Samba? Possibly but they're set at CB, likewise for Cesar where they have Vorm. |
Taarabt would walk in to that team (either behind Michu or in place of Routledge or Dyer). Granero would be in with a shout in midfield and would fit Swansea's system far better than ours. I'm sure they'd take Samba and Remy too. Mackie wouldn't get anywhere near the Swansea first XI, especially given the way they play.

Cesar, adel and possibly Granero, even Swp is a bit like dyer. Mackie no chance, Swansea keep the ball, mackie doesn't.

HARRY!!!!! MACKIE IS NOT A STRIKER! on 17:48 - Feb 9 by DevonWhite | Hence he was played in midfield today... |
Exactly!! Quite apart from any arguments as to whether Jamie is a Premiership player or not.....the original statement is a strange one since he played in midfield today!!

I can't believe what I'm reading..... That's a joke right??? I do want to make it clear that I'm not actually slating him... It's not his fault he gets picked to play. I'm slating the manager [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I'm not slating Mackie who needs to run at opponents with the ball to be effective. If Mackie plays it should be instead of SWP, not as a lone striker which is a job he can't do. Our board and manager have put us in a position where our only fit striker is Bothroyd - What a cock-up and complete wasted opportunity to correctly balance our team in the January transfer window. Cisse gone, DJ gone, Zomora a cripple and Remy only fit for games we can't win - you really have to wonder if any of our board have a clue what they are doing.

Mackie is only remotely effective in a 4-2-3-1 where he is tasked with arriving late as a second striker, or as a second striker next to a big nine in 4-4-2. In many ways he is very like SWP in that he works hard, fills defensive holes and has an end product of zero. SWP has far far better movement Minimum requirement me of a player, playing his role is 5 assists and 8 goals and Mackie is miles of that. I get the hard working endevour pressing thing, I wonder whether it does more good than harm though, as opposed to a hard working player who can retain possesion or create a chance

HARRY!!!!! MACKIE IS NOT A STRIKER! on 17:01 - Feb 9 by DylanP | Agreed. Mackie is a great player. But any time we start with him on the field we are wasting a spot on the field and all his talent. He is fantastic off the bench. That is when he has excelled. When he comes in and injects that extra speed and energy, that is when he makes a difference. Starting him just shows how few attacking options we have inspite of 29 transfers in 2 years. |
great player?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/
HARRY!!!!! MACKIE IS NOT A STRIKER! on 20:20 - Feb 9 with 446 views | dolcelatte | For Mackie read Wardley - one season wonder now found out... Cornish Yarg anyone? Actually on reflection Wardley scored a shedload that season Mackie seems to have fooled a lot of people.. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]
