Hope to see a drastic improvement between now and May - and I am not talking just about results but more importantly about the discipline and conduct of the management and players. If this happens I will renew my and my son's season tickets. If it doesn't I won't and will be very sad about it.

That's partly due to a change in personal circumstances which means I couldn't make every home game (particularly midweek games) but mainly due to the cancer that's taken hold at the club - and that's meant as no disrespect to anyone with cancer.
But in a sense, it's exactly like watching a loved relative being eaten away by a disease and the only potential cure is radical surgery, and soon.
Not gone to a home game since before Christmas, and only done two away games all season. And will not be renewing my season ticket. Thought I would miss it more than I do. As long as this cancer is present in our club, They can stuff if.

windowsbug, just as a matter of interest, did you decide to use the term "cancer" simultaneously, or after reading my post? I suspect the former?
And if so, isn't it just the most apt term to use!
Even if renewals were maintained, I would guess that, like the Conservative party, the average age of your Dale Fan is rising alarmingly, probably by not much less than one year per year. In that respect the future looks even bleaker.

When I was a child, it was the faithful 8000. When I was a teenager it was the faithful 5000 When I got married it was the faithful 2000 40 years later there is no faith left.

and you are right it was not intended to be defamatory towards anyone suffering from that dreadful disease or their relatives or friends. And I say that as someone who will be attending a victim's funeral next week.

My apologies if I have offended anyone. I just added my post without reading the whole thread. If it can be done the moderators can remove the post with my blessing. I have chosen the wrong words but the context of my post can't be changed.

I don't think anyone should be offended, the word is often used in literature to convey "an evil or dangerous thing that spreads quickly" which most certainly seems appropriate to this conversation.
