Let's have a formal thread for a big game. No news of any injuries so far but will McNulty rest a couple of players with important League games pending. This is knockout game and must be concluded today. Please lets get it over before extra time and dreaded penalties( although the action at Stockton Town was riveting.)
Get cracking and attacking, like we can.

I wonder what the odds are on Cashman scoring this afternoon?! Strange to think though that, such has been the churn of players and staff, that few remain from his time with Dale. BJ of course and Jack the Kitman.

Brad Kelly? I think both were here in 2021/22.

The downside is that it means a midweek trip to Sutton as we should go there on 1st March which is the date of the next round.
Sutton are still in the Trophy so we might draw them from the last 8 .......would prefer a home draw obviously as there are a couple of long distant Southern based teams which we good do to avoid.
The draw is Monday 3.15 on Talksport, Dale are ball no 7.
Dale pocket £6k for today's win and there is £7500 for next round. Pay for a few tonnes of sand.

The highlights shone a light on how profligate we were in front of goal. Burger was stuffed by the Ref, getting booked for diving when it was a clear penalty.. This is getting interesting now, and the money is an added bonus. Can we target this competition and keep a play off place? I think we can at least in the short term. Could we give any player a mini break. Beckwith doesn’t get much rest bite, or Gordon on the other side. If East needs rest we have decent options of the bench in there. Tuesday is massive (not least for the ground staff) beat them, and Ebbsfleet and we could even be nudging 3000 gates at Spotland again. UTD

Not sure we even need to decide to target this competition as opposed to keeping a play off place. It's only another two more games and we are in the final of the FA Trophy. Looking at the league table and the size and quality of our squad we are very well placed to finish in the play offs. We have 3/4/5 games in hand on those around us and should be able to average at least one point per game from those.
The squad should be well rested since Xmas and you can see in the recent performances how that extra time on the training ground has benefitted the players. We now look much sharper and are playing further up the pitch at a much quicker tempo. The postponements look like they have bought McNulty time to tinker with the way he has set us up to play, especially out from the back. The players have bought into it and suddenly we have become a real threat going forward, especially on the wings. There's a lot to be positive about, the recruitment both before and during the season has been very impressive. The key to the outcome of the season lies with the manager i think, give the players a licence to attack our opponents then we can beat anybody.

All very true TS, having listened to JMs post match interview he interestingly said something along the lines of, we decided to allow the opposition plenty of possession knowing we've got the players to seriously hurt them, not sure what the recent stats for possession actually are but hopefully there's a clear shift in the way we use the ball, the playing style does seem to have moved us further up the pitch.
