A lot of criticism towards Williams in this thread (rightly so I'm my opinion) but the players on the pitch have to take accountability too. 9 of those starting today were the same team that absolutely who smashed QPR and in the most dominated Luton comprehensively.

Unless Williams has given them different tactical instructions today they need to take accountability to allow their performances to drop to such dire levels. I've said on a number of different posts we look a shadow of the team without Franco. Today just goes to show just how weak our mentality is as a squad if they can't perform as a team with 1 player missing.

There's the notion that "they're not playing for the manager". Well if your telling me they deliberately let their levels drop to oust the manager then I don't want those players at my club. Regardless of the manager, giving 100% for the shirt (and your employer) is a non-negotiable fo me regardless of who the manager is. A lot of fans made the long trip to the south coast over the New Year Bank holiday and we're served up that rubbish - they should apologise.

As for Williams, I'm not his biggest fan, but also not necessarily calling for his head. There are some positives, we're mid-table when many posters on here expected us to be in a relegation battle this year. We're not. Cullen has found a new position and has improved somewhat this season.

Williams is still fairly young and inexperienced as a manager himself, and is learning his trade. That said, I think some of his selection and in match tactical decisions (mainly substitutions) are questionable, and he doesn't appear to be learning very quicky. Also his lack of direct committment to the media that he's not interested in WBA job has caused even more doubt in my mind. His general handling of the media has been pretty poor in my opinion.

I wouldn't shed a tear if he left tomorrow, yet I'm not concerned (this season) if he sticks around. Him leaving now would give another manager more time to assess his squad, and get their ideas across in readiness for next year, and whilst we're not completely safe, we should have enough in the locker to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle regardless of the manager.

As stated above though, today for me was more about the players, their mental strength and attitude and not necessarily down to the manager. Williams should be able to drop all 11 players and replace the entire team as a kick up the backside, sadly... We just don't have the strength in depth to be able to do that.

A spot on post.
How do we go from the home performances against QPR and Luton to today's debacle?
Williams tactics were the same its the players execution.
If not playing for the manager then surely we would have seen a different approach.....one which involves clearing our lines when under pressure not trying to happy our way out of it.

Coleman and the owners need to sort the uncertainty out. It has been reported several times of late on articles here that it seems the new investors want a different face......Williams will probably be aware of these whispers.....hence keeping his options open after all if each one of us were aware of our employers looking at replacing us wouldn't we keep options open?
The board should put up ir shut up.....either sack him or sit him down and say your job is safe whilst we are going in the right direction then maybe things like Darlings situation can be resolved too

Before the interest in him. I'm pretty sure there was a fairly even split for and against him. Following on from his recent comments and todays performance I certainly think that he's lost a lot of the sitting on the the fence posters on here.

I always support our new managers, give them support, even when it's going bad, unlike certain posters who just turn on managers when it's clear we aren't going to challenge the top 6 positions, they know that most managers have a short shelf life, depending on teams fortunes, they know that they will eventually be proved that they made the correct choice by going against the manager at some point when he gets the sack.

I have stuck with all our managers for a while, giving them support no matter how bad it gets, I have stuck up for williams because he has done well with a weak squad, getting us up to 9th position, what has turned me was ultimately today's shambolic performance, fuelled imo by the comments he made about WBAs interest in him, comments at the time I took as off the cuff, I now know that he is being sly, looking after his own interests, I honestly believe that those comments have undermined the trust the players had in him and that's why today's performance was disgraceful.

I'm hoping the new owners don't take an prisoners and sack him sooner rather than later.

The guys position is untenable now. One way or another he needs to go. That performance today was the straw that broke the camels back for me. His comment the other day “I didn’t come here to be average” made me laugh. He’s nowhere near good enough to be considered average. The same game plan every single week. The same substitutes at the same time every week. The same glaring errors that have plagued us since he came here not addressed and there seems to be no attempt to prevent them. When the kit man and the bloody chef is drafted in to give the pre match team talk against QPR or whoever it was and it provides a much better performance than if the manager did it you know somethings wrong there.

No Coleman should ask WBA to formalise an offer and collect the compensation. You do not leave £1m on the table. Darling should be made available for transfer at a knock down price £1m and Low should be purchased. Darling can kick his heels for 6 months.

Williams and Darling are not happy in Swansea but under contract. They are not needed. Move them to one side and let their agents find them new roles.

Williams may be not be unhappy but more unsettled due to the whispers which have been reported by the journalists on here that the new owners would prefer another/better manager.
With this in the background and he is feeling insecure who can blame him for not shutting down other opportunities.
So yes Coleman needs a conversation with Williams and maybe WBA

I hope the new owners stop this experimentation and get someone in with a decent track record, someone who can change tack when needed and not still play the same way even when oppo managers have changed theirs to counteract us. Martin and Williams were two peas in a pod, identical tactics and predictable results.

The longer we experiment the more time we waste and while we aren’t flirting with relegation yet if we carry on experimenting we will one day find a manager who will take us down. That trapdoor might not be as easy to negotiate from league one so we desperately need a big change of attitude at the club and some of the players have to go too. Our midfield yesterday for a start.

You don’t necessarily need an older manager for that.

Potter used to switch formation multiple times during games. If we’re going for more experienced managers, we are going to end up with the ones clubs with bigger budgets don’t want.

We need to be a little bit maverick to continue to punch above the weight of a club who attract around 15,000 fans.

The previous owners mantra was to get younger inexperienced managers because they were tight as a submarines hatch, perhaps the news owners will think like you and splash out like you say and get what to me is the most important component of a football team.

One of the biggest issues for me has been the policy of getting players from abroad because they are cheaper. They are cheaper for a reason, not all will adapt to British football, some will after time and some will never reach the required level of fitness. Yes we have had some success but also some failures, throw in they lack experience the league needs. Yes a good coach will develop players, but he can only develop what he has. Do I think Williams is an excellent coach, no I don't, but we ended up with him because others refused to come and the owners thought he was the best of the cheap options left to coach our club.

In short we brought in cheap players and employed a cheap coach, you reap what you sow. Pay a decent wage to a good coach and you will stand more chance of developing players and making a profit while having a decent team.

Cheap all round just doesn't work.
