Quite like his notion that if political parties keep making clear and ambiguous statements on a particular policy such as the WASPI women and then suddenly change their mind then the WASPI women could have a case in law. That would stop some of the political lies!

It’s one of the many issues with party politics.
A number of individual Labour now MPs came out in support of WASPI but it wasn’t in the manifesto the party was elected on.
Personally in not in support of it so I’m ok with the party decision.

In the attached video the barrister suggests that clear and much repeated promises could have legal value. If that was the case then that may curtail all the lying and false promises. I guess if you say it enough even though it's not in your manifesto it could constitute a commitment, it would have to be tested in court.

I seem to have upset a few on here by my comments on WFA and WASPI.
For clarification all I’ve really said is that although I think the cut off for WFA is too low, it shouldn’t be a universal benefit (I feel the same about child benefit).
As for WASPI I think that there are better things to spend £10 billion on when services are under such strain.
I also always push back on the young people bashing that pops up on here.

The biggest problem for me with the governments actions around WFA and the farmers tax is it’s not really benefiting anyone. It’s not raising much money for the treasury and it’s not saving much either. They’ve admitted as much themselves. They have often trotted out the line that the vast majority will be unaffected. So why do it then?

It just seems completely ideological.
Governments al ways over estimate savings but I think there will still be a pretty substantial saving.
As for the farmers, I think it’s more about closing the loophole than raising cash straight away which is a good step IMO.

I’m 46 so my state pension age is 67.
I benefited from free school travel, free university (I was the last year of grants), low cost student loans and a 100% mortgage to buy a flat that was 3 times my wage.
Many of these things are not available for young people now yet we keep asking them to pay. For longer.
What has surprised me is the confusion for many on how the state pension works. It’s not a personal savings pot and in some ways it does equate to what you put in.
I thought this was common knowledge but I was wrong.
None of this means I think the lesion is a benefit or high enough.

You haven't upset me in the least, but I totally disagree with your views, Starmer and Reeves have made a total cock up with wfa and Waspi.
Today is the cut off for applying for pension credit, 150 thousand applications, but only 42 and a half thousand have been processed, there's no sharing of pain here, pensioners have been targeted by Labour.
And before the triple lock is mentioned the 4.1% rise doesn't come into being till next April, so a lot have a tough few months ahead, before they get a £9 a week increase.
The hypocrisy with Labour over the Waspi Women is nauseating
