Looks like Mandelson is to be the Uk's ambassador to the USA.
This despite twice having to resign from the Cabinet, first for an undisclosed loan to finance his mortgage and then in a "cash for passport " scandal.
He is an ex EU commissioners and as such still receives a hefty pension from the EU.
This looks like cronyism at its best. UK Ambassadors are usually career diplomats not former politicians.
He will no doubt continue push his pro EU and anti Brexit views.

I have not been following the trade deals stuff. I do remember the Brexiteers saying this US deal would be the easiest deal to do and would be done very quickly. Gove perhaps.

Progress was being made with the Trump administration but then The Biden administration started playing silly buggers over Ireland so talks stagnated so we had to reach agreements with individual states instead. |  |

Johnson and Gove, anybody who believes a word they say is too gullible for words. Bojo is a chancer who used the brexit argument to rise up the greasy pole. Gove...the less said the better.

It was never going to be an oven ready anything and we won't know for a long while yet. I agree with JohnLangy, we could easily be another decade away from seeing the full outcome. Hoopefully Starmer will manage to get a better deal this year, I don't want the political integration but trade should and could be easier, better, cheaper. | | | |
