Thanks for confirming PC vote is nowhere near the 33% you claimed earlier. Even your beloved labour party vote has collapsed from 39.9% in the last Senedd election to just 23% the same as reform a party that has only existed for a couple of years [Post edited 7 Dec 13:15]

Is Europe turning ? on 08:36 - Dec 7 by Kilkennyjack | Its an established fact of International law that debt cannot be taken out on behalf of a people but without the specific consent of the people. Russia tried it to debt load Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Russia tried to bring them to heel by giving them soviet debt. Thrown out of court. So wales would be debt free if UK tried to force the matter. Instead you might think that friendly neighbours would work something out. As i am sure you will know Ireland and the UK did this in 1925. Of course the assets of the UK are also part of a civilised exit. Its mad to think that you have so little respect for the uk that you think they would use debt to block a democratic path to indy. Its like a drunk gambling violent husband telling his lovely wife that she cant leave him cos of his self created debt ! |
Usual waffle from our Irish friend. There is no definitive international law on this issue, as many of the states that have split up (e.g. the former Soviet Union) did not recognise the main international courts or sign relevant treaties. What one needs to look at is empirical examples, and most cases where new nation states emerged involved some form of apportionment of debt (the Soviet Union been the main case that did not follow this pattern). https://mises.org/mises-wire/after-secession-what-happens-national-debt But somebody who thinks Scotland and Wales are already "nations" would struggle to understand.

March 2023, support for independence dropped to its lowest level since 2019 at 18%; the drop was potentially attributed to the prospect of a Labour UK government and now we have that, maybe it's even lower than 18%, that's not even 1 in 5. |

You keep repeating the same old guff, which you know is quite obviously not true. And make your mind up is it Cymru or Wales

Is Europe turning ? on 10:29 - Dec 7 by SullutaCreturned | The problem with that is that the Baltic states didn't want that debt but Wales accepts that debt, we gave the government the mandate when we elected them and the Welsh government doubled down on that permission by constantly demanding Westminster should give us more, the only way to get more is to increase the debt. The Baltic states didn't elect the Russian government. W elected those in Westminster, can you see the difference? |
No. Wales has never voted to join the uk. All westminster votes have a huge english majority so there is no case for Wales giving specific permission for Westmonster to run up debts in our name. Fact.

The assembly are quite adept at running up debt, how many more vanity projects are they going to waste millions on, not to mention another 2nd rate bunch to jump on the gravy train before the next election. Whose paying for them?

Scotland and Wales lack the full range of institutions that nation states possess, and you do not even try to argue that Northern Ireland is a nation. The UK is the nation state that takes its seat in forums such as the United Nations. Why do the Scots sing "Flower of Scotland" if they do not see the need "to be the nation again?" If you look at the academic devolution literature. or even the devolution legislation, you will not see the word nation used. Academics write about territories (Scott Greer) or home countries (most others), and not nations. The term "nation" admittedly lacks a precise definition, but the word just causes confusion if you are talking about sovereign states. The BBC must take a lot of blame for its pandering to the SNP, and using the N word when that makes no sense.

Can you remember Wales requesting to leave the UK? In the last 25 years of devolution have we even asked for a referendum on the subject? However we give the mandate to Westminster when we take part in elections and vote for a government. You really don't understand democracy, do you? You can have facts but you can't make up your own facts.. PS, when we take part in democratic elections and do not refuse to OR object to the result, permission is implicit. [Post edited 7 Dec 15:53]

Correct turn out in Wales for general elections Is between 60 and 70% which is an endorsement of UK democracy. Turn out in senedd elections ranges from 38% in 2003 to 47% in 2021 which pretty much proves how unpopular it is.

Not true. The UK is a political group of 3 nations and the north of Ireland. The UN also states that all people have the right of self determination. This means any of the UK nations have the right to leave the UK political state.

Do you understand the scale of corruption at UK level under Johnson ? Sit down. The failure of Truss. Cost of illegal wars. Senedd is miles better.

They are factually nations. There is no magic list to tick of institutions. Repeat after me England is a nation, the UK is not a nation. The north of Ireland should be part of Ireland, thats obvious to most.

There has only been one vote on devolution. You made the second one up Every time the majority of people in Wales take part in a democratic UK general election they are giving approval for the United Kingdom. Just accept that only 20 % of Welsh people want independence the rest want to remain part of the UK. Fact undeniable.

Never been on the ballot, one day though. Do you think 51% is enough like Brexit, or do we need a 10% super majority ? Basing this on the backtracking now on with the GFA.
