Russell Martin has a holiday coming. If his Hols are anything like his tactics he won't get out of his own back yard.
Hols on 01:32 - Nov 12 with 755 views | TimSaint | Noticed a Saints flag during the West Indies v England T20 cricket match on Sunday night. Barbados - never been, but wouldn't say no !! Depends what you want and when...... I'm looking to get a bit of Skiing in and a warmer option The Missus is currently looking at Lisbon / Porto for Spring Between us, we have a 'short list' of about 20 holiday destinations, ranging from Alaska, Yosemite, and Tanzania, to Copenhagen, Giants Causeway and The Isles of Scilly.

Isles of Scilly and Barbados are both nice places and worth a trip. Not done Ireland or Dublin for a few years so maybe another short trip there is in demand, although avoid Temple Bar like the plague nowadays as it’s just another standard overpriced tourist hotspot now. Thinking maybe a short trip to Turkey, but if funds permit maybe Asia or Central / Southern America (not done any of the latter SA Countries as yet). [Post edited 12 Nov 8:39]

I've travelled South America a fair bit as i have family there, of the places i've been Venezuala was amazing especially the mountains and i really liked Argentina. Both were before the current political situations though so i'm assuming they might've changed a fair bit. But of all of the places i went the one i loved the most was Brazil. Rio is probably one of the best places i've ever been, and don't believe the stuff about it being dangerous, just don't act like a d*ck and you're fine. Salvador was also incredible and the music there is everything you'd expect from Brazil (far more so than Rio interestingly), but it was a fair bit more sketchy and there were roads you just got a gut feeling you couldn't go down | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I preferred Porto to Lisbon although if you are staying for longer than a few days possibly Lisbon might be a better option . Air Portugal were doing a good deal with regard to stop overs, ie fly to Lisbon or Porto and then on to another destination after a few days stop over

Cheers Nick The Missus has been before and wants to take me, as I've only been to the Algarve. She also prefers Porto and was looking at a 3 night city break. I would look at getting some football in whilst over there.

Can you fly to Portugal from Southampton or Bournemouth do you know? Bit of a snob when it comes to going to Europe in that I cannot be arsed to do London airports simply cos you spend more time there than travelling on plane. Franniestache - think it will be a short trip to Turkey but deffo like the sounds of South America. Got a guy at work who is Brazilian and he said same, but to be honest he did say there are a few dodgy spots. Same applies in every country as well, travel like a complete numpty and you will always be prone to trouble. Respect the culture and people and nine times out of ten all is ok. Remember a trip to Barcelona and being followed by pickpockets, so long as savvy and street aware generally fine.

There's more to do and see in Lisbon, but for Porto you can always add trips along the Duoro which is def worth it https://theendlesstravellers.com/is-porto-worth-visiting/#:~:text=As%20Portugal'
