Astonishing 21:33 - Oct 22 with 1918 views | saint22 | Reading everything it genuinely seems like we are stuck with this manager You just know we will get to the out of no return and then sack him Why can’t those in charge make a change now I don’t buy the money issue as it will cost us way more if we go down again
Astonishing on 09:30 - Oct 23 with 1740 views | Ron11 | It really looks like the point of no return already. They could put Lallana in there, he could do no worse and has a lot of Prem experience. Potter/Moyes won't come near this club now.

Astonishing on 11:01 - Oct 23 with 1671 views | Ifonly | We are not past the point of no return, but we are past it if we keep RM. If we change manager we would have a small chance of surviving, but we would have a chance. We could also hope to go down fighting instead of rolling over and conceding 3 goals in each crucial half. If we keep RM then we're down already and probably as the worst team ever to play in the PL. He's said he won't change (which is actually a lie as we've seen already) but he will never change enough, when what we need is a major change of direction.

Our season is already irretrievable which to me fits Sports Republic’s long term narrative of wanting to be a Championship feeder club to established Premiership teams. They aren’t currently concerned who manages our club. That’s how they see the future:- Purchase vast numbers of young players at relatively low cost ( play them in Turkey if necessary) in the hope that one or two out of every batch comes good and they sell on at a vast profit. Case in point Lavia to Chelsea for £50 million. Long term they know they can’t compete in the Premiership hence becoming a yo-yo club isn’t a problem given the Parachute Payments should we get promoted every now and then.

His performance on Saturday would point towards somebody who doesn’t want to work here anymore.

No we won't become a yo-yo club. There is no such thing as a long term yo-yo club. It may happen over a few seasons, but not long term. In the long term we will either change direction and re-establish ourselves as a PL club, or there will be a couple of seasons where we miss promotion from the Championship (easily done) so we will lose our parachute payments and then we will become a mid table Championship team like Swansea under Martin.

Ifonly, Given that Sports Republic managed to engineer our exit from The Premiership when we actually had some Premiership quality players and we are now 1/5 to be relegated yet again, your suggestion of re-establishment currently looks the least likely outcome I’m afraid. Yo-Yo is the best we can hope for with them in control. [Post edited 23 Oct 12:03]

He must be disappointed he's still here because getting fired now would be quite a good career move for him. His CV wouldn't be tarnished by our relegation and he'd probably still be able to attract job offers from Championship clubs. He'd also get paid a lot of money without having to worry about our results any more. He knows now is the best time for him to get fired. The last thing he wants is to be sacked at the end of the worst Premier League season in history. That would leave him as permanently damaged goods and I should imagine he'd find the huge dent in his personal pride very hard to take. Why they haven't sacked him yet: https://www.southamptonfc.news/news/the-one-financial-stumbling-block-holding-sp [Post edited 24 Oct 13:20]

No dent to his pride. I predict that at the end of the season we’ll hear that the squad couldn’t learn quickly enough. SR certainly like the snake oil he is selling.

They spent over 100 million on a load of sh!t, that doesn’t strike me as a good financial plan.
