This game is wasted on the group stage. Spain have been so good but the Italians are still in it. Great stuff.

I've really enjoyed watching Austria, pressing relentlessly and think they have been very aggressive in attack, they go through the middle at every opportunity. Something a little bit different, but hugely entertaining.

Denied a perfectly good goal by English VAR refs.

It's an absolute joke isn't it? Ages going through the footage and still comes up with the wrong conclusion. Now the rest of Europe knows the Premier Leagues fan's pain with these incompetent fools at the wheel. The fear in that control room, with them all panicking and not having a clue. In the end they went with the safe option, if in doubt, disallow it. Absolute cretin Stuart Attwell. [Post edited 21 Jun 21:43]

I thought it might have been Keith Stroud making that decision, it was so poor. Atwell, that ends well, (for the French).
Euros Match Fred on 07:52 - Jun 22 with 1551 views | Spaceman_P | France have been a completely overacted side, even more boring than us to watch. watching Greizman falling over and then looking at the ref with his arms up is annoying the F out of me. Netherlands a shadow of their former self. For me this tournament has been all about smaller teams Turkey, Albania, Romania and georgia. The only big team who I rate are Spain, they've played some great football. Germany well... lets not talk about them.

Spain are the best team to watch but France or Portugal will win it imo

I think Anthony Taylor was going to allow the goal until the assistant flagged. IMHO from his position he couldn't really see the distance between the attacker and the keeper. Then fast tracked Atwell gets involved and makes a complete pigs ear of it. They should have gone with Taylor's original 'decision' to allow the goal and not overruled him, due to a linesman with a poor view.

At the very least he should’ve been sent to the screen to make a decision himself.

From the UEFA site for these Euros: For 'factual' decisions (e.g. offsides, fouls in or outside the penalty area), the VAR can simply inform the referee of those facts and the on-field view screen isn't needed, but it is always the referee who takes the final decision. The information of the review process will be communicated within the stadium using the stadium screens. In this case though, was the decision factual?

The Dutch forward was so close to the French Keeper he was clearly obstructing his ability to make the jump to his left to make a save. It was the correct and clear decision for me, but they didn't need to take such a long time about it.

After the match on the BBC the panel went through multiple different views of the incident to an almost forensic level. It was quite clear that the Dutch forward was not close enough to the keeper to either block his view or impede his movement. The goal should have stood and the panel was in unanimous agreement on that. [Post edited 22 Jun 13:46]

Opposite view taken on Norwegian TV by Åge Hareide the current Manager of Iceland, who made what i thought was the good point that he didn't know if the Keeper could have saved it or not. What was relevant was that the Dutch player"s position was so close to the Keeper he couldn't try to make the save without being likely to going through him.
