If Les done all the ground work last year then i agree it should be acknowledged . Shame he didnt get the deal over the line though and went for Critchley or was it Beale instead.? Also a shame he never got a team together that would suit Marti type manager.

These all very much a “squad for a Marti type manager” specifically (or a Beale or Warburton type manager too, tbf). Can add a couple of loans from the Scandi leagues during winter break too.
Begovic, Fox, Smyth are not. To be seen if Colback and Cook can still do it at the pace required now they are semi-retired.
Ainsworth coaching and buying players: that’s why LF left. You can see why after the previous five years of recruitment. The pieces don’t fit together.
Pretty sure Clive says in his article or a post that he was in the running when Beale got it and then they would have gone for him after Beale but the compensation needed to get him was too much a year ago.
Either way he was identified through the process Les ran. That much is clear. They banged on about how detailed the process was last summer too, so I assume Hoos just dug that out work and went through it with Belk. Seems a reasonable assumption.
Just a shame Amit had to scratch that Ainsworth itch in the end.
I assume even after Critchley it was unlikely we'd get Cif?

Yeh point taken. Bit of a throw away line from me at the end of my post but what I meant mainly was they're not very good.and their attitude stinks.
Optimistic about this. Felt like relegation was inevitable under Ainsworth but now time for (yet another) new start. Or false dawn. I don't think it should be too much of a culture shock. As some have pointed out already, Cook and Begovic played under Eddie Howe and Cook and Colback played under Steve Cooper at Forest. Most of the rest have played under Warburton/Beale. The real culture shock would have been Ainsworth and the Haka. Wonder what (if anything) will happen to backroom coaching staff. Will there still be a role for Paul Hall? Will Marti have more input on the coaching set-up?
Just watched his interview on the club website. I like him, comes across very well. There's no doubt this is a bit of a gamble from the club - I would have favoured Warnock to the end of the season - but maybe this will work.....
